In the vast ocean of requests we'll have over the course of Destiny 2, this certainly sounds like one of the least important. But much like the problem fans have with shaders, this comes back to the topic of customization. One of the most important aspects of Destiny is making your character look cool. So when there seems to be regular discussion of the characters looking not just ugly, but worse than Destiny 1 in some cases, that's a problem.

Listen, I'm not a developer. I'm not demanding that Bungie completely redo the character customization options and give us the ability to make one-time changes to our characters along with those new options. Sure, I'd love that but I don't know how realistic it is.

But the fact that many people have complained their characters look worse than they did in Destiny 1 means that something is off.

My fiancee loves designing the characters in the games I play and we went with females for all three characters in Destiny 2. My Hunter was made from scratch as my original Hunter was literally the queen's brother before I knew that character was a thing. (Awkward cut scenes in D1 for me.) Once we landed at the farm, it was extremely noticeable that the strange lighting on her face gives her a sort of mustache look and my fiancee pointed it out instantly. This follows through to the end game social space as well.

And my Titan, which I simply transferred over from D1? Not only does she have that issue but the structure of her face looks weird too. She simply looks worse than she did in Destiny 1.

I know I'm not the only one to point this issue out. It's been mentioned in communities like NeoGAF and right here on Reddit. It's been mentioned in the Easy Allies podcast discussing Destiny 2. Characters looking worse than D1 is a known issue.

I should note that I don't know if this will impact my Exo Warlock when I play as her and I don't know if this is a problem for male characters as well.

Come on Bungie, I know people will love my Guardians for who they are on the inside.

... But on the outside, they're kind of ugly and that sucks.

I'm not looking for a complete reinvention of the character creation at this point. But some sort of future update that fixes some of the current issues would be great.

During the cultural revolution, there was an outbreak of a 'mango' cult. Back when I was still young, I had a director who literally tried to pressure a bunch of the other actresses in my theatre company into kissing me during rehearsals and he kept giving notes about it, and all of us were SUPREMELY uncomfortable. None of us wanted to do it, none of us found it sexy, and it just completely soured the rehearsals whenever he did it. There was NO reason for kissing, much less "believable kissing", during an early-days rehearsal.

We did not keep him for much longer after that stuff. You really need a professional working with your actors to ensure proper boundaries are set and not crossed to ensure everyone is as comfortable as possible for the work they're doing. Improper intimacy protocols can lead to all kinds of on-set problems, including opening the door to deep personal trauma for some of the performers.
