at the start of the game flash is the one who isn't brainwashed, and presumably these bios aren't actively being written by lex during the events of the story, that would be a huge waste of time in the middle of an apocalypse, they would be more like existing dossiers

It's supposedly written from the perspective of Lex Luther which seems hard to imagine. From the scenes I've seen it also seems like Wonder Woman receives a lot of respect etc. while the male heroes keep getting humiliated.

Like cool if the game is out to take a dump on the justice league but then at least have the consistency to also do it to wonder woman

For Acti Blizzard, shitty stuff is happening, but there's huge media coverage, actions taken, a huge shift in management, lawsuits, and if I remember correctly it made some rumble at the California government level. There's seemingly an effort being made to clean up this mess. That's why I suppose it's ok to talk about their stuff (just my opinion of course).

I don't think the south korean anti feminist wave is going away anytime soon, and other than some orgs trying to fight it(to my limited knowledge), I never heard of any action happening to counter that wave of incelness. It's a huge societal problem, with roots deeper than the game industry.

That's the line I personally draw. Is the company getting away with it unscathed, and unapologetic? Fuck them, I don't want nothing to do with their game, and I wish that the biggest game forum would not do their PR and marketing by hosting discussion about their games. Probably a flawed reasoning but I'm not smart enough to think deeper than that.

I think ActBlizz actually does get called out a lot which is why we have seen a lot of the changes we have. My knowledge is all second hand of course but I'm willing to believe the employees who are saying things are improving.

Plus as many issues as their games can have, there are prominent and positive examples of women, PoC and the LBGT community in their games. OW is an obvious one but I came back to WoW this expansion after being away for a decade and have ran into at least 4-5 well represented gay couples in Dragonflight and they haven't been subtle about it. So imo the company isn't irredeemable

I would say the line is "one dev is courting an incel hatemob, the other is at least trying to pretend they're improving". One is actively courting an audience that over here would be correctly called 'Gamergaters', the others are very much not doing so. Quite the opposite, even. The worst Ubisoft is doing on that front is pretending their games are not political, and they get mocked for that.

I find the idea that ABK and Ubisoft aren't being criticized to be absurd anyway. ABK is routinely criticized, many have dropped their games, and when their games come up, their awful work culture is usually mentioned. I myself have criticized them and their past design issues (including once in this thread), and am actively avoiding their games. Same goes for Ubisoft. The criticism for both was so big that both felt the need to actually pretend(!) to change things in their internal culture.

I won't buy their games, but at least when their games are being discussed, they're not filled with misogyny to the point its impossible to miss. Shift up, meanwhile? Yeah, the misogyny is bursting from every frame :P

I'd say those are some pretty stark differences. The latter bit you should probably consider again. Perhaps that's more of an issue to criticize Nikke/Stellar Blade specifically. Maybe it isn't some sort of unfair treatment that Shift up is receiving. Maybe their work just speaks for itself.

You both need to interrogate the real systemic reasons people are posting those comments, and it's to prop up and support the oppressive system they are privileged by. All acts are done either to maintain the hegemonic system or tear it down and do better, check yourself before you wreck yourself on the wrong side of history.

I am all for equality and people living the life they wish to live (as long as it doesn't harm anyone); I think everyone should get media that appeals to them and is "for" them...and the media resetera wants is boring as fuck IMO.  But nothing is worse than wanting EVERYTHING to be the same in the name of so called equality.  Its ironically what they claim when some random sexy design drops and they go "I don't want it to not exist but not everything has to be like that" when the reality is that its not all like that and thats what makes it stand out.

Stellar Blade is probably going to be ass (lololololol) but the fact that its basically a high budget comiket game is awesome to me. Its people who worked to get to where they are and are creating shit they want to create and not some safe ass shit attempting to appeal to everyone is what makes the creative process great.

This goes both ways too...I am tired of every game being apart of some terminally online culture war. Sometimes you just want to be hyped about a game without it being used to own the libs or make the chuds mad or whatever

BUT as Wizard Game, PalWorld and many others have proven...Twitter isn't real and Reset's impact is so tiny lol. Maybe thats what makes them screech harder I guess
