Couldn't find any 2024 exit polls but the math is easy enough if rounding is adequate for everyone, Biden got 61% of the Black vote in 2020 which was 56% of the sample.

So in 2020 Biden got 184,212 Black votes, which were 70% of his votes. As you can see, it's actually impossible for him to do better with Black voters in 2024 since his total votes are less than just his 2020 Black votes.

Another thing they missed in that thread, Biden got 97% of the total vote, yet he only improved his Black vote share from 61% to 74%? (The claim can't be that he got 13% more Black voters since he got less overall voters even if not a single white person voted for him in 2024.) Why didn't he get 97% of the Black vote? Or 100%? This would actually suggest that he lost Black support relatively since he presumably exploded in white support from having no competition. Surely whites turned out for him at over 90% or he wouldn't have gotten 97% of all votes, yet Blacks only did at 74%?

They have three pages of circlejerking over a mathematically implausible claim from a tweet (or that puts a lie to their Black voters saving the day theory) but someone runs a grift based on what they actually believe they've decided it must be fake news and some kind of right-wing chan op.

I've been a huge fan of the Persona series for awhile, but one of the only aspects that consistently disappoints is its representation of the queer community. Lately however, there has been a shift. With Persona 3 Tactica including a moment in which the protagonist can envision getting married to any of the party members without it being played like a joke when choosing Ryuji or Yusuke (or at least being no more of a joke than the scenes with the female options, and none of the jokes are bout both characters being Mae) and removing a transphobic joke from Persona 3: Reload in all translations of the game. With the same rumors that confirmed the existence of both aforementioned games also mentioning a Persona 6 reveal likely this year, do you think it'll keep up the trend?

I'm not entirely sure about Tactica, but one thing Reload and P6 will seemingly have in common is a newer, younger writing team without Hashino overseeing them. I think it's fair to say we will be able to escape the bigoted jokes, but is there a possibility of more? I think the major changes we could hope for include a choice between male and female main characters, the ability to romance any of the choices regardless of gender, and perhaps even making the game set in college or remove the significantly older romance options. I've included a poll just to see what everyone else thinks about the possibilities at hand.

Yeah. IDK. I played p3 fes over the whole year of my last year of high school, roughly finishing around the time I graduated. I honestly think that's the peak age to play these games and spreading it out like that instead of mainlining it is pretty fun too. 

The experience of playing the game in school, makes it completely different to playing something like that as a grown as adult. I think even in your early 20s is probably a good vibe for it, where you're removed enough from school to feel a lil nostalgic but not fully an adult.

It was pretty obvious around the time I played p5 that I was aging out of it. Don't get me wrong, the game is still fun, and I liked it, but it's obviously not being made for me. It wasn't the same as playing p3 as a teen, and I wouldn't expect it to be.

the hs stuff is part of the core concept. as a functioning adult you should be able to compartmentalize that the game is a story about high school and not some weird thing being catered exactly to be exactly as you want. if you want a game about being a cringe 40 year old play something else

have all the pandering sequels of 70s/80s/90s kids stuff retooled for manchildren fried everyone's brains? they just expect ALL MEDIA to be for childish 40 year olds?

It would be kinda cool to get more JRPGs pitched at 30-40 year old parties. That's one of the cool things about Nier. It brings in some room to play with JRPG tropes in novel ways. 

That being said I don't expect that to come from Persona, because the entire concept of Persona is that it's a high school year.

Actually really liked Lost Judgment’s whole bit where you’re a teacher at a high school. Being the guy supporting the next generation was more appreciable to me these days. And on occasion using corporal punishment against the delinquents.

Just wanted to add that the rampant use of progressive language as a weapon is quite a depressing issue. Lately between the layoffs, Palworld, that joke about COD's campaign from the Kratos' VA etc. you can see it in full display. I was against the merger due to my political beliefs, but i couldn't fault the mods for being suspicious of the intent behind said posts. Not speaking about the user in question or anything, as i'm not familiar with their post history and the acquisition thread is too fucking big to follow, just in general. I wish these things were dealt with more promptly, again not to target anyone in particular, but to make some examples, the COD joke thread went about so long with bad faith takes before action was taken, and some users managed to shit up multiple Palworld threads for countless posts under the guise of "advocating for artists" before again, action was taken.
And it goes both ways too, and that's why, in my opinion, social issues are being largely ignored in gaming related topics, because if i voice my frustrations, as respectfully as i can, in the Stellar Blade thread, it won't be long before people start talking about "just wanting to shit on Sony". This has put a veil on suspicion on basically any discussion that wants to digest this hobby critically outside the vacuum of the fun we have with our games. Engaging with the broader issues surrounding our hobbies has become a fool's errand, because these discussions always end up in bad faith arguments between two or more sides. I admit that i've used my frustration over social issues i care about being ignored to be unecessarily harsh and critical in the past myself, but it's something i'm being extra mindful not to do anymore as in the end it only leads to more resentment and the further impoverishment of discussion. There must be a place for nuance.

To me it's more upsetting when trans issues pop up in other threads but get ignored or belittled by posters there. Same thing happens a lot with sexism, it's extremely fucking depressing to see so many posters ignore posts like "Hey this thing is actually transphobic/sexist!" in order to say "This looks amazing!" and dipping.

My want from the cis community on era, especially you dudes, would be more vocal pushback against shit like that and more vocal support for posts that shine a light on these issues when they pop up. That might be a more concrete task to remember than a general plea to pay more attention.

ON THE SAME PAGE on the etc list was a thread about the transphobia of south park, it was pointed out how harmful the show was to trans people, and people would follow up with "Can't wait to watch!" Just rubbing it in peoples faces.

Again, people are allowed to enjoy things you don't like, to talk about things you don't like, and are not obligated to take your ban bait and thread derails.
