I don't have any advice but I feel for you. We were straight-up lied to multiple times about what the financing was when we got my wife's vehicle and I remember being so angry the entire drive home when I started piecing together what happened. It's a quarter to midnight here and I'm getting mad right now remembering it, and it happened five years ago!

I don't want a bunch of service department technicians and receptionists to be out of jobs or anything but I do wish for some bad things to happen to the entire dealership system. There are definitely some laws protecting them and some laws making them required that need to be trashed (like laws banning manufacturers from selling directly to customers and from owning their own dealerships). Next car I buy is going to be from an online service.

since we've never had insurance before, the salesman gets us Geico insurance in Florida, while we are in NY. Again, I don't know what the fuck I am doing and I am trusting the salesman to just get me a good rate on car insurance. so I get signed up for Geico insurance with some random Floridian address that has nothing to do with me.

after this point is when I first began posting about it in the EV OT but fast forward to this week, we also find out that the car is registered to Florida which means we'll be getting Floridian license plates, but we don't even have them yet and their temporary license plate has already expired. Geico also sends a notice that our insurance is terminating because we haven't provided a proof of residence to them

I drove my moms SUV(2024 KIA Seltos) from Florida to Washington DC and the constant amount of annoying beeping made me go insane.

Between lane assist, blind spot monitoring and all of the other crap I was ready to drive off a cliff.

I had enough in South Carolina when I was trying overtake a semi truck on a two lane highway during a downpour and I tried to get close to the yellow lane on my left because the truck was wide enough and was splashing water in my windshield but the lane assist kicked in and yanked the steering wheel trying to pull the SUV closer to the semi! WTF.

I parked in the next gas stations and turned all tha crap off and made the trip way more enjoyable.

of course, this is coming from a guy that daily a 2017 Mustang GT with none of that stuff.

I believe all these features are more of a distraction than anything.

I drove a Kia Carnivale around the Adelaide Hills recently while on holidays. Can confirm that driver assistance is needlessly aggressive and the number of beeps is completely counter productive to safety.

Here is a novel idea, how about he reads the fucking contract.
There's usually something in there about how to terminate the contract and what if any penalties that involves.

Also the whole thing doesn't sound as fraudulent as he thinks.
Car dealerships usually have a steady supply of certain popular used models and can sort of guesstimate how long it takes to restock or they know people planning to sell, auctions coming up etc. . There is a lot trading between dealerships when it comes to cars and parts.

Peace and/or a ceasefire I don't think are real possibilities unfortunately. Hamas is dedicated to killing as many Israelis as they can and Netanyahu is now dedicated to an offensive that wipes out Hamas and sees the collateral damage that causes as a happy bonus.

October 7th was the paradigm shift. Hamas gave Netanyahu Israel's own 9/11. Which I think that Netanyahu knew about in advance and chose to let happen. It was the excuse for the aggressive offensive that he had been waiting his entire career for and once it happened Hamas outlived its political usefulness to him.

Netanyahu just has to be removed and I think the only real way that happens is if you can pressure the rest of his ruling party to turn on him and force him out.

I don't actually know how legitimate Israel's elections are and if he lost support and voters wanted him out if he'd allow that kind of electoral result to happen.

In what way? If that was their goal, they wouldn't have bothered to take prisoners and keep them alive. Listen... as much as I don't agree with Hamas's ideology or methods, they have a legal right to resist their oppressors. Once this is all over, should they be taken to account for potential war crimes? Sure. But the same with Israel... and I can assure you the list of their crimes is much longer.

Despite the tagline that gets repeated constantly in the media, Israel does not have a right to defend itself from those that it occupies within its own territory.

Buying a Tesla online is great. You fill out the form, give them $250, and are guaranteed the car at the price it was when you ordered it (no bullshit dealer markups). You setup your financing when the car is ready and then you spend 20 minutes in the dealership to pick it up. Much better than going to a dealership.
