I honestly think I will skip FF7R2 because I just don't want to put up with this fanservice stuff at the moment and am already feeling alienated from media aimed at men right now. I have discovered murder she wrote and sambuca and that combination will give me a more fun experience.
Are mainstream video games ever going to get better? Will they ever have a Captain Marvel or Barbie moment (successful mainstream blcokbuster about women by women)?

Also I'm always amused when people say "Guess you're scared of going to the beach!" when this type of stuff happens like with "Summer Skins" in fighting games; both because personally, if you wore something like that to my closest beach, you'd probably just end up catching a cold and getting stung by crabs and jellyfish while being judged by Sheep but also kind of ignores that these characters aren't choosing to wears these costumes by choice and like... No not really.

In real life women can and do wear a variety of clothes to the beach, not just sexualized to piece swimsuits, from shorts, one piece swimsuits, shirts, skirts, gym wear, non-sexualized two-piece swim suits etc, One piece blue and striped clothing that covers the arms and legs etc.

What annoys me so much about the false equivalence argument that is, "Well if you don't like pandered to when consuming media you'd HATE real women in real life" is that I, as an adult, frankly can't fathom the idea of lacking the critical thinking skills to parse how stupid that sounds. Because let's just acknowledge the following idea:

-People who tend to complain about and/or focus on disproportionate objectification in media also tend have the opinion that women in real life should have the agency to wear what they want. The reason behind this particular Venn diagram is because both arguments are inherently feminist stances to begin with. More respectful/inclusive portrayals in media as a baseline AND..NOT...VS women in real life should have agency and should generally be left to their own devices.
