twohearts writes too fluently to be a typical reeeetard and he has a surprising grasp of the concepts he talks about, even though his takes are stupid. He also nails all of the idiotic talking points in the most cynical way.

Benji, as the supreme student of Resetera that he is, has the innate knowledge of the idiocy necessary to run this ruse.

His typos also indicate he's typing on a keyboard rather than a device with aggressive autocorrect. Benji's posts on TheBire are also indicative of this.

So, as someone with some expertise in all of this, the framing of this thread is horrible. It's pure rage bait meant to twist perception. It does nothing to capture how complicated the situation is or the various failures at all points in our society--from city councils being unable/unwilling to reign in shitty landlords to homelessness groups being overworked to the point where they can't be bothered to spot obvious scam artists--and just flattens the discourse around the issue.

The OP, in truth, has a long history of posting these sorts of reactionary threads designed to anger people and illicit a kneejerk reaction that then cascades into pointless fighting where people talk past each other. He's done it previously around the whole "looting epidemic" and it seems like this is his new outrage target.

As a result, we're locking the thread and actioning the OP for trolling and inflammatory thread creation.

Isn't that almost every thread on EtcetEra outside of weekend "fun" thread?

While the "avert extermination" terminology is undoubtedly being abused by Israeli nationalists and others trying to justify the genocide in Gaza, surely you can understand the cultural trauma that forms the basis of that feeling, right? Jews have been persecuted for literal centuries, and anti-semitism is still distressingly common in the world today.

It's abhorrent that Israel, the Israeli people, and their supporters are citing this cultural trauma of displacement, dehumanization, and even extermination as a rationale to … displace, dehumanize, and exterminate another people. The hypocrisy is off the fucking charts. But to call the very-real threats, past and present, to Jewish people "fragility" and having their heads in their ass wholesale feels wrong.

This is how good friends who are Jewish explained it to me. All of them are strongly against the genocide, Israeli nationalism, and possibly the existence of Israel itself. But they're also seeing very real antisemitism on the regular.
