The obvious thing is they need to target RFK Jr. Trump's polls are capped, so they need to drive down RFK in hopes of swinging the shares back towards them.

H. W. Bush made the mistake of ignoring Perot while Clinton embraced him as someone else attacking Bush. Biden shouldn't risk that he'd have to appear in debates with both of them attacking him. Typically people make the mistake of thinking they can flip the third person to also attack, in this case, Trump because RFK like Perot would be against them too. But it doesn't work because the motivation of third candidate is to target the incumbent, they will never target a challenger with the same fervor.

Now, the question is, would Trump being the prior incumbent negate this? Would Biden want to set up RFK to attack Trump for the vaccines? Would Trump defend the vaccines against RFK? I don't know enough about RFK's campaign to know if he gives Trump a pass on this in order to gather Trump supporters.
