What a fucking idiot. The US is on top because of big tech. Every business has to put ads on Google to be relevant, every business needs Microsoft software, everyone has Instagram/Facebook/X whatever. Most computer chips are sold and developed by American companies.

In most cases governments even demand you use the safe and secure Microsoft things if you want to do business with them. In the Netherlands ASML builds the machines to make the chips, Taiwan makes the chips, China assembles the hardware but US corporations develop nearly all the relevant software and hold all the IP and patents. The boring business automation is where the money is and with labor shortages in many places across the globe business is booming. There is no Amazon, Apple, Microsoft or Google outside of the US not even the Chinese copycats can match.

Uh, I want to absolutely make sure I'm understanding this right; is your position that there should absolutely be no protections against any kind of hate speech?

I hate that the first amendment protects hate speech but honestly laws that punish hate speech can be turned around on the people they were intended to protect. Like now we're apparently treating criticism of Israel and wanting a genocide to end hate as speech.
