I have PC gamer friends complaining about this, and I truly truly do not understand the problem.

In comparison, I had a fucking morning, dealing with paying for a hotel room for my dad that involved three visits to the the property owners, a trip to the bank, a trip somewhere else, and a lot of lines.

My girlfriend is currently undergoing the process of coming here on a working holiday visa, based on your replies in this thread that would be your best option. You're young so you can get away with just coming here and enjoying yourself a couple of years, work in the service sector etc.

Not the best of times but still a great country. Generally quite friendly and welcoming, which is what you want as an expat. Live in the north, it's much cheaper than the south. Weather is the worst of it but Europe is a £20 return flight away.
