I love how all these obsessed activists don't even know the Supreme Court changed nothing about this with this ruling. If anything they actually provided a way for someone to actually be prosecuted for these for the first time. There are so many "news" articles and stuff (from paragons of democracy like NBC an WaPo) about this completely falsely saying that the Supreme Court just allowed threats and harassment, when all of this was already protected by the First Amendment and has been for all of these people's lives.

Gonna wait and see what consumer privacy and general moderation look like before going in on this service myself but it is encouraging to see brands embracing it early.

There’s a reasonably cynical reason to be in disbelief about that being a good thing, but one of the perks I’ve enjoyed from social media of the past is being able to see product news really quick straight from the source and joining in the community response with a sense of directness. Can’t claim to be a perfect human—some gaming brands are very dear to me like that.

But I know now that being on social media isn’t that simple and clean a transaction and that I’m just becoming a more robust product package for every interaction I have on the platform. Sigh.

I deleted and quit all of my social media accounts years ago but I admit I’ve never been able 100% satisfied with giving up that participation. This platform is another temptation but I’ll wait and see if moderation is robust enough and data collection and distribution is more transparent or even controlled to a satisfying degree. I know the latter is a hugely unlikely scenario given this is a Meta product, and the current range of privacy reports is kinda nightmarish (but they also aren’t accurate at conveying how the data collected is actually used)…

I just legit want to be able to control the experience enough to avoid feeling like it’s a misery grind chock full of frustration and anger.

The metric ignores watchers in any other devices.

And even then, the lowest under that metric is Ms. Marvel at 775k, with the detail of it also being the most popular Marvel show with younger gens and minorities.
