It's hilarious how a hyperbolic joke about rape is taken so seriously and treated as this major crime, but somebody starts talking about how the collective nation of Jewish people needs to "go back where they belong", sharing domestic abuse next door or lecturing people about what's sex slavery suddenly the nuances and turns of phrase shine through as the focus. They start yelling at you to LIGHTEN UP too.

At least in my experience, in the industry they are doing a far better job of controlling the spread of misinformation than other platforms.

I always just assume they're Black Bloc, these are people who go to every "left-wing" protest purely to try and start something. You'll always find them standing around constantly talking about how prepared they are as they try to encourage others to commit crimes. They claim to be anarchists and anti-fascists but all they do is want to be able to do what the fascists did historically. Then claim it was "political" in some incoherent vague way.

edit: Freddie deBoer had a pretty savage mockery of them once upon a time but I can't seem to find it with a simple Google search, just turns up a few sentences or paragraphs in other columns of his like this:
https://freddiedeboer.substack.com/p/antifa-is-a-fatherless-child wrote:The stereotypes of the anarchist movement were frequently unfair but did not come from nowhere: the anarchists tended to be drawn from affluent and stable families and for some the attraction to anarchy was predominately pre-political, which is to say that they wanted to rage and break things in a way their privileged upbringings had not permitted. And this led to protest behaviors that were suboptimal, not because we had a particular fondness for the police or the rules but because protests take place in the contexts of neighborhoods where the flesh-and-blood human beings we’re trying to rally to our cause live, and they universally do not want perpetual adolescents in paintball outfits wandering around looking for someone with wrists skinnier than theirs to fight.

But if they’re cool, we’re cool. Dust off your black Skechers and puff out your chest, knock yourself out, as long as you aren’t fucking things up for the rest of us. Nobody wants to be the protest police. I certainly don’t. If people want to wander around looking like they just left an Avenged Sevenfold concert, flashing their little first aid fanny packs at everybody, godspeed to them. But we’ve arrived at this bizarre moment where most left-aligned people are pretending that they think the ugly and pointless riots of last year actually did something or meant anything, and people who haven’t left the house in six years and have Stalin for their Twitter avatar are pushing a hard line on antifa blamelessness.

Once again they lack the most basic reading comprehension

Quote:With the indifference of the world, Hitler knew he could expand his reign of terror by eliminating Jews from Germany, to annihilate Jews across Europe through genocide the Nazi’s called the “Final Solution” — concentration camps, gas chambers, mass shootings.

By the time the war ended, 6 million Jews — one out of every three Jews in the entire world — were murdered.

This ancient hatred of Jews didn’t begin with the Holocaust; it didn’t end with the Holocaust, either, or after — or even after our victory in World War Two.  This hatred continues to lie deep in the hearts of too many people in the world, and it requires our continued vigilance and outspokenness.

That hatred was brought to life on October 7th in 2023.  On a sacred Jewish holiday, the terrorist group Hamas unleashed the deadliest day of the Jewish people since the Holocaust.

Driven by ancient desire to wipeout the Jewish people off the face of the Earth, over 1,200 innocent people — babies, parents, grandparents — slaughtered in their kibbutz, massacred at a musical festival, brutally raped, mutilated, and sexually assaulted.  Thousands more carrying wounds, bullets, and shrapnel from the memory of that terrible day they endured.  Hundreds taken hostage, including survivors of the Shoah.

https://www.whitehouse.gov/briefing-room/speeches-remarks/2024/05/07/remarks-by-president-biden-at-the-u-s-holocaust-memorial-museums-annual-days-of-remembrance-ceremony/

His speech is saying the opposite, that one group or event isn’t the origination of the hatred for Jewish people, but that it’s a long history that Hamas is part of but not the only one. These people can’t bother reading something beyond TikTok headlines or they might understand that. Fucking terrorist simping weirdos
The most ridiculous part of all of this is that the jew hating anti-semites hamas lovers on the left still call people they don't like....

I don't think we can admit that at all. Capital is far more available now than it was in the past. Home loans and college loans have never been given out as easily as now, they're both massively subsidized by the government and have been for decades. Then you have the fed's low interest rates for all our lives.

A home, college and even food were lower in dollar value in the past but they were far more of your paycheck. You used to have to actually have capital to get loans too.

Our parents and grandparents didn't buy homes where people already lived, they created the suburbs and entire cities.

ehhhh...granted i don't know much beyond my own experience and those of friends but it definitely feels harder to get a house now. prices aren't dropping too much and interest is rising. there's definitely more down payment assistance programs which helps a lot but it's still a pain even with a steady job and good to great pay. and at least locally inventory isn't there and houses that are not really amazing are selling for $50-100k more than they would have been a year or two ago.

plus there are stats showing that home ownership is down among younger generations. so i don't think its "impossible" but i'm not gonna say its easier than it has been previously. but also i feel like if i can own a house, its possible for almost anyone lol
Facts don't care about your feelings.
