Literally every single time we have a thread on what Trump is planning to do, whenever Project 2025 specifically comes up, it always seems to get derailed with discussion about what Biden has been doing in regards to the ongoing genocide in Gaza. That needs to stop. What's going on in Gaza is absolutely an important issue and deserves discussion, but we need to stop derailing threads about the horrors that Trump has planned and stopping any actual discussion about that. This is also something that matters and will affect tens of thousands of people and warrants discussion.

I took great offense to him arguing that because Chinese Americans operate restaurants that are open on holidays that somehow makes anti-Asian racism OK.

After Proposition 8 was passed in California he argued that black people are homophobic - Gaborn was gay. His reasoning was that black people are mostly Christian, and Christians voted for Prop 8.

Reading that thread genuinely made me feel some second-hand sadness, and i never even heard of Gaborn my life.

First 15 replies: RIP Gaborn, miss that guy/those posts, etc.

Funeral costs can get crazy and they feel so exploitative. If you end up needing a headstone and the cemetery accepts non traditional/natural headstones that I could make out of locally quarried stone, I would make it for free. I realize there would be shipping and installation costs that I can't cover, but I've been lurking in this thread and wishing the best for you. If I can help, let me know. If you don't need a headstone, but you still wanted something to remember her by, I could make a small flagstone memorial for a garden or for under a tree or whatever. I'm not trying to insert myself into your situation, but I've been making stone memorials for almost 20 years. If I can give you some comfort, I'd do it free of charge. I see it way too often where someone passes away and the traditional headstone shops go and try to squeeze thousands of dollars out of people that are grieving.

I appreciate the offer, one of the things I did do previously when my aunt passed away was actually make sure that while I had the funds I bought a double plot for any future family members when they would pass. I never intended it to be for my mother, but this is where we are right now. so that at least is taken care of...there is already a double headstone as well so all that needs to be done is engraving for it.

I really am thankful for the gesture, and I don't want to inconvenience anybody for any costs on my behalf.
