Weirdos and their multiple partners from discord who haven't left the house since 2005 are shedding tears and shaming people for leaving the house. They thought they were on the winning side in 2021, when they spent their days literally shaming people who died of Covid. Because if you died of Covid, that meant you were anti vax, racist, transphobic, homophobic and subhuman. Because not getting the vaccine is tantamount to murder. Sometimes they would hold their sympathy until confirmation of vaccine status. Now that nobody is getting the vaccine, they resort to fighting each other about whether or not it is acceptable to breath on public transport that they don't use because they all work worthless WFH jobs for pussies.

What do you want people to do? Do you think after 3 years we should still be in lock down?

As a severely immunocompromised person, I don't really wish for lockdowns anymore. They're not practical to maintain at this point anyhow. But I do wish some safety precautions were still taken, like wearing masks in a public/crowded place and social distancing when possible. In the midwestern part of the US where I am, literally all of this has been abandoned. Public transportation doesn't have anyone masking up anymore. Social distancing in places where it would be practical (such as lines or in restaurants) is non-existent. Unsurprisingly, the first time I got COVID was after all the restrictions were removed and everyone tried to pretend things were completely back to normal. It nearly killed me.

Covid showed me how fucking selfish people are. So many people putting "fuck you got mine" on full display, with no regard at all for the health of others. People can't even use masks or wash their hands and instead complain that they have to be decent people, for fucks sake.

Then there's companies trying to tear down WFH, and there's all kinds of people who don't want to admit that long Covid exists and disables people.

The worst of it all though, is seeing how fucking badly immunocompromised people are treated. People will tell immunocompromised people to "just stay home then" because people refuse to follow basic Covid precautions anymore. They'd rather we all go "back to normal" and pretend like nothing happened, and it's the fault of disabled and immunocompromised people for reminding them that not everyone has that same luxury.

People masking on the bus system would be a huge quality of life improvement to me. They actually did improve the ventilation on our bus systems, so if people masked up, that would make a world of difference. Unfortunately, everyone has gone back to not masking up at all and sitting quite close to each other again.

I can't speak to those cultures, but physical touch is unquestionably not the norm here in the midwestern US. There's always going to be a risk with bars and restaurants, and this is a good example of how the world has permanently changed for me as I now have to avoid busy restaurants. But people keeping their distance in say... a grocery store line would be a wonderful help. It's not so much the places that I can avoid (like restaurants and bars) that are the issue. It's the places that I cannot avoid yet it would be logical to mask or social distance that are the issue for me.

It’s interesting to me that there are so few perspectives from essential workers in this thread. All that changed for me is that I got a one time payment from the state for $1100 or something. Otherwise, I had to go about doing my job as usual, just with a mask on.

Immunocompromised essential worker here. But I've been blessed as my work transitioned me to a permanent work from home position. One that is not dependent on COVID either.

If I still had to go into the office, it would be an hour long bus ride with several other people who are not masking, twice a day, five days a week.

Just saw sound of freedom. It's actually a damn good movie with a message on child trafficking that is a much larger problem then I could ever imagine. Very dark and gruesome film, ignore all the politics surrounding the film and see it yourself highly recommend.
