The only thing I can think of is that Beau got wind that whoever else was involved in this misconduct was considering/preparing to speak up, and Beau tried (foolishly) to pre-empt it by trying to make Disney look like the villain and peacing out from the internet with public opinion tilting toward him and a mostly confused social media sphere assuming he was fired for frivolous/unjust reasons.

Instead, all he did was provoke Disney into punching back against him and openly stating they want nothing to do with him, and now we have the sexual misconduct thing hanging over the whole mess like a shadow.

It's a case of at least two different forces trying to control a narrative and paint it in their own favor. Beau's issue is that as long as the question of "why was he fired in the first place' remained unanswered, he could remain relatively bulletproof, given how well-received the show was. He really probably COULD HAVE leveraged that gig into more jobs. Which is why it's so confusing he did this and...accelerated the process for himself.

Maybe because he's a lunatic which is why he got fired?

X-Men 97 was one of the best things Marvel's done in YEARS, and a huge part of that was how unapologetically Queer it was.

So Marvel booting the Queer leading writer for essentially being Queer…well, does not bode well for the future of the show.

The thing is…if Disney were planning on being silent about this, they can't after that post.

Beau seems to want a fight here. Maybe he's a narcissist, or maybe he knows Marvel is in the wrong and is goading them into a public fight.

Either way, I can't imagine Disney/Marvel NOT responding.

To me, what immediately stands out is not the pride aspect of it alone. It's the pride + sexuality that I can VERY easily see Disney taking issue with.

Beau isn't just gay; he is gay and very sex positive, going by his social media.

We still aren't clear on what happened here, but Beau's implication is pretty clear to me, and I certainly believe that Disney would draw the line on Queerness + sex.

Disney BARELY likes depicting queer people even as sexless whitewashed caricatures. Here you have Beau, the lead writer on one of their most popular franchises, making it quite clear that he's not just gay, but that he fucks…hard. I don't see Disney vibing with that at all. And looking back, and I said this in the thread as the show was airing, one thing I remained surprised by in X-Men 97 was just how adult it was. It was blatantly queer, and blatantly sexual. That is uncharacteristic of Disney to be kind.

Again, it's clear we don't know the full story, we're still in speculation territory…but I'm picking up what Beau is putting down. If he's being truthful? It absolutely tracks.

Man, it's never lined up how chummy he still seemed with many of the creatives on the show, and I definitely could see Disney throwing their weight around when someone inserts some sexiness (intended for someone other than cishet white dudes) into the brand.
