This is something people seem to not be capable of accepting when talking about Concord. They think it was "rejected" by ALL of gamers. They think there is no audience for the game, because people looked at the character designs and rejected them. But I've been saying, people don't know about this game. It's not even on the radar. The game was announced a mere 2ish months before launch and had little awareness raised around it. It didn't even have a steam page to follow for weeks after the announcement. There were a lot of unknowns about the game until the beta (and even after in terms of cosmetics and unlocks). How can hype and WOM form about so many unknowns, in such a short period of time? Only chuds used this to create negativity (and of course people are like, no way chuds don't matter!). Anyway, I think the lesson here is that failing to find an audience doesn't necessarily mean there is no audience. And a game isn't bad just cause it doesn't.

FWIW, the only reason I didn't buy it is because the specs are a little too high for my taste. I don't like when a game runs maybe 60 fps. I am used to 120+fps, so I'll get it when I upgrade my CPU if it's still going. I do think they should have targeted lower specs.

I won't argue that f2p wouldn't help. I don't think it's obviously a silver bullet either. They'd have to attract and hold WAY more players since the vast majority do not spend significantly.

Valorant was released about 3 months after it was announced

I hate the excuse of advertising being the issue. There have been many games in the last decade that came out of nowhere without a single commercial and sold millions of copies. Helldivers II had almost zero advertising leading up to its release. Yet it was one of the biggest sellers of the year. Concord was the big showcase two months ago. What was the reaction? “I hope this isn’t another hero shooter”. Why was that the case? Because PS5 owners legitimately want Sony’s next big thing to be a single player game, and not some 3rd rate Overwatch. If this was a lower rung Sony game in a year where they were pumping out 1st party games, then that is fine. But this is was presented as a big deal, and it was clear it wasn’t.

APEX Legends was released the day it was announced, one of the biggest successes ever.

Deadlock isn't even announced yet and has at least 40 times the player count of Concord on Steam.

Nah. It was good to see my family and it was good physical therapy.

It's gonna take a lot to get back to where I was  before finding out I was vitamin B12 deficient and bedridden because of it. Shots are helping but I'm still weak AF and it could take months or even a year to reverse the neurological and muscle damage. Nevermind the fact that I need core decompression surgery on both hips but can't currently due it cuz I cannot manage crutches.

I kind of hate the word "deepfake," is it literally just supposed to mean a more realistic fake image? doesn't it have something to do with google deep-dream stuff from a decade ago?

why do we need a distinction? we've been able to do this sort of thing with photoshop in like 30 seconds for ages, are those not technically "deepfakes?"

is it really even that much worse if it's more realistic? wouldn't someone be just as embarrassed and horrified at seeing themselves shittily photoshopped onto a naked body? it's still a breach of social ethics and very personally-targeted, doesn't matter how good of quality it is, I feel like you should prosecute someone doing it the same whether it looks terrible or is believable, because the line of believability is going to be different for everyone, just focus on the fact that it's targeted pornographic content

Not to mention you could already 'deepfake' anything. The idea seems to be that you could for example trigger a war by deepfaking a picture of a US ship getting bombed by Iran or whatever. But we can already 'fake' things convincingly enough without AI, just think about the Kremlin scene in Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol. 

On the porn side the worry is that you can just take a picture of the girl next door, upload it to your AI and go to town.
Again something that is already possible without AI (just more difficult to pull off ). 

Also as more and more of this 'stuff' becomes available it'll be less shocking and effective. I remember the first beheading that was posted by ISIS or whatever. It was world news. Now deaths are a statistic in Ukraine and Russia.

I think there is no need to worry about AI deepfakes as much as they should worry about AI porn rendering millions of 'content creators' and sex workers homeless.
