from my perspective, those hyper-consumed about the state of corporate media in whats largely campaign-based coverage (which we've always been in since Trump first became the republican front runner all the way up to the present moment) tend to self-absorbed in their own media bubble. It's important that mass media its criticized, and its role in influencing the positions of everyday people, that's certainly important. Yeah, the media shapes narratives, but also its not like access journalism has gone away and they don't play ball with the dems. Everybody saw Biden's clear mental decline, and you had the Press Secretary claim those videos were AI fake news. No they werent! Certainly some people created edit videos but the actual footage tracks with the characterization and we know that because it happened often! And the prevailing, dominant opinion amongst the commentariat was "Biden is doing just fine, its offensive to imply his age is a factor cause trump also old and bad but also biden is fine" Just complete head in the sand stuff and the elation of Kamala being passed the torch allowed many people to realize how well they were getting stringed along too.

Don't get me wrong, corporate media is definitely in the business of disinformation, but it also took the same corporate media (that being, wall street) getting completely spooked by Biden's debate performance for them to almost instantaneously turn on Biden overnight. People may think "oh well they were unfair to biden before the debate", but when you consider the media PARTICIPATED in covering up the president of the united states having a 6pm bedtime and constantly reiterating "the president is always the one making the decision" and reporting that unscrupulously... thats actually being very nice! I only bring this stuff up because I think it's a good example of *how* many Americans are the last ones to realize what everybody else can observe. Foreign leaders and diplomats have eyes and ears. This subject was the topic of such contentious discourse in the commentariat but it was obvious! The only reason it wasn't more obvious is because the corporate media was aligned with Biden until the debate performance. And now look, we've basically entered a lame duck presidency three months before the election because the corporate media still wants access to the white house and democrats (and they mostly want trump to lose), but everybody pretends having a sundowning president is no big fucking deal because you have a couple of jackoffs go on CNN or MSNBC and pinky swear the president is always the one making decisions and that his bedtime is, well actually, 8pm and not 6pm.

This is the stuff people should actually be concerned about. Now my point about this specifically to the OP article is, because its not just about biden, but the issue here is partisanship will lead people to incorrect conclusions about what is actually wrong with the media. If public disinformation is actually important to you, then you do yourself a disservice narrowly and exclusively framing it around "how positive they are for trump / how negative they are for biden or kamala". The media collaborate with whomever is in power at any given time, because whomever is in power is always answering to the same corporate interests running the media. Access journalism certainly cuts across both ways, and this is plainly how the sausage gets made behind the scenes.

How many discovered, sometimes repeatedly have to be reminded, every piece of western reporting in Israel goes through IDF censors? Do people realize that stuff is not disconnected from whatever they think is happening now? Meanwhile the federal government just made a whole show about "russian influence" on the election when its common knowledge israel is buying out our elections and insists and goes to great lengths to censor our media. The media isn't making a fuss about that either! To nobody's surprise. This is why approaching from a partisan POV (even if you dont explicitly frame it that way) will leave you scratching your head. When you look at the shared positions of the republican party, the media, and the democrats, it becomes much more clear why in any given instance they are reporting on, for example, why kamala has no written policy platform but saying nothing about trump's also lack of policy (using this example for demonstrative purposes not argumentative). They will always be picking sides and shaping the narrative. But the sides aren't the people + dems vs republicans, its the people vs the corporate duopoly and their various propaganda farms.
