Despite how messy the show was, "Gotham" truly captured the essence of a comic book show, embracing the campiness and absurdity that make comic books so enjoyable. Coincidentally, "Gotham" already explored the Penguin vs. Sofia Falcone storyline in its fourth season - and it was a lot of fun. In that show, Sofia Falcone was played by Crystal Reed.

My only issue with HBO's "The Penguin" grounding everything in realism is that it drains the fun out of the experience. It's trying so hard to be taken seriously, stripping away all the weird humor that made "Gotham" such a weird guilty pleasure to watch.

I'm sure it will be a good show to watch. But what sets "The Penguin" apart from any other mobster show? Does this story need to be told if the characters weren't named Oswald Cobblepot and Sofia Falcone?

These people are so trained by the MCU to expect tension shattering jokes at the absolute worst times, when the movie had just spent the previous 10 minutes building up the tension, that they don’t know how to handle a show that commits to its tone from minute one and actually can hold it. 

But hey, let’s ignore all of what was established in the critically acclaimed Batman two years ago so we can get “fun”, whatever that means. “Fun” has worked out spectacularly for based Mahvel lately.

I also think we need to get off our high horses about people cheerleading for the acquisition and it being some kind of great shame for this forum. Do we really think those people knew that this would be the result? Not everyone who's invested in their gaming hobby knows how the business side works. Unless they were actively rubbing their hands together at the prospect of layoffs, I'm not going to cast judgment on people for not knowing any better.

It was constantly brought up in the thread, many denied the layoffs would happen but anybody with half a brain could see this coming a mile away. The truth is that many in that thread simply did not care about the layoffs, because they were personally benefitting from the acquisition. What are the jobs of a few hundred faceless people worth to them when they're making profit off the ABK stock they bought?

Whoever is handling out bans needs to get a grip.
"I'm being silenced!" and then getting banned for claiming you are being silenced just shows you are being silenced...
Maybe do a little "Admin Post" on this thread to get people on track if you are so worried about people discussing how the moderation team handled the issue, but banning everyone for a week seems counter-productive.



Either way, on the thread, this is really sad. The whole "economy is good let's expand like crazy and fire everyone once it turns worse" cycle is an awful way to conduct business and it seems to be the default for these big companies.
I've been constantly afraid of jumping jobs for better salary these last few years because of job security issues. If we are going to be living in ultra-capitalistic systems, we need to support more sustainable companies.

The point was to get Activision games exclusive to Xbox / PC. When that didn't work Xbox became Activision instead of the other way around.
