Pretty much why my browsing is non-existent these days.  They eliminated everyone who had something to say.  Look at the Civil War thread.  It's only people politely saying, "I thought this movie was good," or people saying that since Captain America didn't punch a nazi it was morally confusing.  Nobody on the, "I liked it," side wants to even talk about why they liked it lest they piss off the Approved View established by the morons.

Only those who disagree in a demure and bland manner are remaining.  The rest are idiots establishing the norms with others saying, "I agree with your statement," to avoid bans.  It's either very boring and staid responses or the very dumb and pointless ones.

It's so ironic yet obvious, these people have so little sense of control of themselves because they refuse to do anything with their lives that they turn to radical extreme totalitarian violence for "meaning" because it gives them the illusion of control when other people are forcing others to do things and they can just obey without effort. Just identify yourself into the movement and its "achievements" become your own with no effort needed by yourself.

It doesn't have that totalizing ideological force for the entire movement, you can devote yourself to Trump while maintaining your own idiosyncratic insanity. The other demands this sort of complete devotion to every component of your personality and existence, the same interests, the same views, the same slogans, even adopting the same identities, etc. It's more egalitarian in that there's no figurehead, so loyalty can be shown only through devotion to the ideology. Social power accrues to the most aggressive bad faith people who then get to dictate the form of the ideology to which others have to show loyalty. MAGA has aspects of this but Trump personally can at any moment excommunicate someone or some idea. This seems to fit the fascist model because of Hitler/Stalin/Mussolini but that was really just reality intruding on the ideological principles, someone has to stand in for the spiritual force the ideology says is the real force moving history. There's basically no ideology underlying Trump, which puts him closer to Mussolini who was more of an opportunist than a rigid ideologue but Trump would never want to bind himself with even a fig leaf ideology.

The Right Side of History is essentially the Aryan Race, the Communist Party, etc. the ideological embodiment of the spiritual force of History we can trace back to Hegel's nonsense. This will always appeal to the disappointed narcissist who can comfort himself with the guarantee of his eventual triumph. This isn't a replacement for an actual fulfilling self because it's logically structured in a way that will always be denied. You can see it in how their answer to everything is always that everyone didn't conform enough. People didn't uphold solidarity, people didn't say trans women are women, people mocked Concord's player counts, etc. The lack of utopia is always because someone somewhere didn't believe hard enough. When your value is determined by adherence to fervent belief and your belief demands an inhuman perfection you can only ever fall from Heaven. When you outsource the production of Heaven to everyone else having to be perfect too you can see the all encompassing nihilist despair that devotion in so many forms so often leads to. But they're trapped because they're too invested in wielding social power over someone, anyone, as the sole display of personal value. You can only ever be exhausted this way.

Driving 180km+ on a major highway which has a speed limit of 110. Small fine, slight inconvenience of having their vehicle taken away for two weeks, and not being able to drive for a month, or less.

I don't really care if you have a bunch of fucking parking tickets, that's whatever (unless you're blocking fire hydrants, or parking in handicap spots, etc). But wreckless driving, DUIs, stunt driving, speeding; you shouldn't be allowed on the road.

No it's a society that's convinced driving is a right, not a privilege. Plus in the modern age there are so many easy ways to get around without a car. I mean between ride sharing and ebikes people can do a majority of their traveling that they need a car for.

I grew up in rural Kansas. You absolutely needed a car to get everywhere. We also had at least one kid in our high school die or get horribly injured in a car crash every year. I'm not exaggerating. Literally all four years of high school I was called into the gymnasium to have a school assembly to tell us a schoolmate had died in a crash. Our approach to car culture here is way too lax. 40K people die every year in a car crash and nobody bats an eye. Almost 20K pedestrians and cyclists are killed every year by cars and nobody cares. It drives me fucking insane.

Same here in Ontario. My high school had someone die each year in a car crash, including someone who sat behind me in class, and someone who was very close to me.

Obviously to say everyone who owns one is an asshole is hyperbole but they are contributing to the problem. It is not necessary for vehicles to be so large and they're that way to appeal skirt environmental regulation and keep getting bigger to appeal to insecure people who need big car to go vroom vroom to feel better about themselves.
