I’ve never once had to watch something incognito, clear my history, etc yet I don’t get angry politics videos trying to radicalise me.
Could it be that the algorithm isn’t actually that clever and just recommends four-hour high engagement culture war videos because that’s what they watch? These are people who think statistical and probability models are literally magic.
They think Google would spend their resources constructing elaborately detailed models that somehow account for everything, even though this is impossible, when Google openly tells everyone their advantage is the amount of data they've collected. Google manipulates the databases, touching the ranking system would be stupid.
Their recommendations look the way they do because they're the ones massively overweighting certain variables, not Google. In fact, I'd contend that Google's "pushes" are incredibly obvious and are likely done outside of "the algorithm" so it automatically surfaces for everyone. There's probably little chance Google can identify "chud content" in the way these people think they can. They also have no explanation for why Google would do any of this, they just handwave at "engagement" which makes absolutely no sense.
Usually the algorithms have some sort of trick to them. Recently I found out that watching shorts has more impact on your suggestions than watching full videos.
On X the same is true for bookmarks, those have more weight than likes. Although X is sometimes completely broken by things going 'viral'.

Really, the recommendation complaints are no different from their complaints about basic human decency or capitalism, colonialism and white supremacy. They keep doing the same thing expecting different results and then getting upset that the results aren't what they want and blaming everyone but the person providing the inputs.
It's always everyone else's duty to figure out what they really intended and make that happen for them. They shouldn't have to emotionally labor for things to always be exactly how they want.
Also nothing should cost any effort or be a challenge...
Wait a minute

Quote: User Banned (1 Month): Dismissing Terrorism
I don't want to get technical by saying it's a military response to asymmetric warfare. I will say it's not "dismissing terrorism." It's dismissing a state actor attempting to maim foreign combatants in a different sovereign nation. Which might be worse if you could understand it !!!!
But duhhh! Israel is terrorist and we learned terrorist bad during 9/11. Call Israel terrorist and they bad. These dum dums

Guys, I know this sounds like a crazy coincidence, but I found another podcast.....
I know...I know...do we really need another fucking podcast by some chud who thinks his voice needs to be heard? This one is a big deal. It's investigative journalism. Think Tom Brokaw meets David Halberstarm meets a podcast about What makes Us Think on NPR. You're not gonna believe this shit - they fucking found it - Nepenthe's secret journal. And buckle up, cuz it's a doozy.

In general, I'm ambivalent about the case because I wasn't really posting in a legal context. The design inspiration was just fucking obvious, and people trying to downplay or outright deny it were being way too disingenuous for me to ignore.
