Assassin's Creed 2 and Brotherhood are probably the best of the non-open world era and usually regarded as the best overall. The newer ones from Origins onwards are still very good but have so much open world bloat.

Avoid 3. They set it in the most boring history period possible.

Judge sharply criticizes lawyers for authors in AI suit against Meta

A federal judge on Friday brutally dressed down the lawyers for a group of high-profile authors who are suing Meta over the use of their work to train the company’s AI technology.

U.S. District Court Judge Vincent Chhabria accused the plaintiffs’ attorneys of dragging out litigation that may help set important guardrails for the emerging technology.

“You are not doing your job. This is an important case,” Chhabria told lead counsel Joseph Saveri during an hour-long video conference about fact-finding issues in the case. “You and your team have taken on a case that you are either unwilling or unable to litigate properly.”

“It’s very clear to me from the papers, from the docket and from talking to the magistrate judge that you have brought this case and you have not done your job to advance it,” the judge said. “You and your team have barely been litigating the case. That’s obvious….This is not your typical proposed class action. This is an important case. It’s an important societal issue. It’s important for your clients.”

Saveri and another attorney working with him told the judge they hadn’t tried to delay the case and were being blamed for agreeing to extensions Meta sought.

Last November, Chhabria threw out most of the claims in the suit, calling some of them “nonsensical.” On Friday, the judge said there was “no way” he would appoint Saveri and his co-counsel as class counsel “based on the way you’ve litigated the case so far.”

“I think what you need, frankly, is to bring in somebody who can help you litigate the case, who has the resources and the wherewithal to move this case forward…I think you need to reconstitute your legal team,” the judge said, suggesting the plaintiffs consider involving Susman Godfrey, a Houston-based firm pressing similar AI lawsuits on behalf of other authors and the New York Times.

a lot of this is because all these AI cases began as knee-jerk reactions, just saying "dey stole our art/writing!!" without understanding a single thing about how the technology works, the fact that legally it's a massive uphill battle and there probably isn't a very strong claim they could make for damages

I kind of get the dev(s) of this game, whoever they are.

A lot of people spend 3+ years of their lives doing a really polished and deep indie game that pretty much nobody will play. It won't make enough money for the dev to sustain themself, there will be a cult following but the dev is broken regardless.

The devs of this game knows better, though. Making a simple unreal project, probably with a lot of default assets, starring a hot chick and trying to cater for the Stellar Blade crowd. Maybe even banking from chuds that will support it just for the idea of it being a bastion of anti wokeness or some shit.

It's hard to blame them, honestly. It will sell better than 99% of stuff on Steam, including really incredible experiences that you tried to show everyone, but nobody cared.

Has anyone here seen Shogun? Awesome TV series, I finished watching it yesterday. Nearly every single character except Lord Toranaga and Lady Mariko treat Blackthorne/Anjin like he's total shit and beneath them. And he's a white man.

Read the book right after. Totally recommend it. Even in text it feels like Blackthorne is a barbarian and the Japanese are more dignified.

I loved the show and learnt alot from it. Wanna see something very funny?

Blackthorne and Lady Mariko had awesome chemistry. I felt they were really in love by the end.

But watch this interview with Cosmo Jarvis and Anna Sawai. Anna is cool, but it's almost impossible to believe Cosmo is the same actor who played Blackthorne. He is soooo nervous and shy. Watch the first 2 minutes at least:

Nobody actually thinks about what has happened historically for women of color, particularly Black and brown women who do live in bodies that have consistently been oppressed because of the way they look and have been fetishized because of the way they look. And instead of actually allowing players [to create characters with those types of bodies] or even acknowledging that Black and brown women would play this game and deserve the ability to make their bodies in this game, [it’s almost as if] those can’t exist because everybody has co-opted [that body type] and made it automatically be sexualized. When no, big breasts aren’t necessarily sexualized.
