I wanted to just bring this up because it's something I have been noticing all across social media in general. People that are let's sat at least seemingly very clearly left leaning people and supportive of various things like Palestine, lgbtq+, etc are freely using the r-word as an insult to people on the right very often now. I can't understand how after a good decade plus of it relatively being seen as something to never say, it feels like it's back and even more common than before. What happened?

I wonder if South Park has anything to do with it, with 20+ years of episodes of that show a lot of episodes use many slurs liberally and I could see different generations of kids being exposed to South Park as their first wildly different and "forbidden" cartoon that is nothing like you have seen before. If you grew up on Bluey, Spongebob, etc suddenly watching South Park is a wild ride.

Wouldn't be shocked if there is a ton of tik tok insta etc style content that plays with south park content and goes viral either.

Because Marx also asserted that the proletariat will agree on everything and there will be no disagreements, Marxists then developed the idea of "false consciousness" to explain why even the proletariat needs to be suppressed by the state. Lenin, Mao, Marcuse, etc. just run with this.

The Left has never worked its way out from Leninism except developing a disdain for anything that requires it to emotionally labor like establishing a vanguard Party and seizing the means of production. That's not on me to do, it should be basic human decency for you to establish a utopia for me.

If you lowered emissions while increasing production, like the United States, she would still oppose it because it does not address what she cares about. To me the approach to moderating this topic feels similar to the approach Western media uses when reporting on it. Which threads get locked, which opinions are allowed, and which posters get banned show a clear pattern. I don't think it's unreasonable to expect the dozens of "Trump is worse" posts that derail every single topic to be actioned like any other derail.

I also don't think it's a coincidence that the GM of the site had multiple meltdowns over this conflict (including over tame and warranted NYT criticism) and attacked thoughtful posts by a fellow moderator in ways that would get anyone else banned. They can permanently lock each topic once their biased moderation choices inevitably lead to unproductive and frustrating discussions.

It's the end result of a white liberal being handed the keys for a "progressive" forum. Fundamentally incompatible. I don't even mean this as some mean spirited dunk, I mean white westerners can not understand certain life experiences or know the actual depths of Islamophobia in our society, the same as any other marginalized group vs. even well meaning outsiders. These subjects need specialized moderation from people who actually know what they are talking about if you're going to have them present. Though, I'm pretty sure Nepenthe, someone who actually is qualified to speak on the subject, isn't allowed to post in this thread, so... I dunno, man.

Another thing you'll notice regarding the disdain for rights in Leftist writing since at least Rousseau is that the leftist conception of "freedom" is really total conformity by all to the singular vision of society that the writer has. They don't conceive of real diversity, possibly because their systems cannot allow for it or it may just be an assumption about human nature, which is probably why they fetishize the concept of billions of people who are all the same in every meaningful way but all look slightly different and can personalize their "flair" like pronouns or gender identity.

Most conservative (in the Burkean sense) writing at least theorizes using a diversity of acknowledged classes if nothing else. Leftists mostly spend their time establishing formal rigid hierarchies as a means of claiming to abolish them.
