If you search for 'Halloween', you get told that it is a 'celebration observed in many countries on October 31st every year'.

But that's a fucking lie.

Because throughout my three decades on planet Earth, 'Halloween' has gone from being a one-day event like Bonfire Night or April Fools Day to almost Christmas-esque in how it has completely saturated the month of October.

Every TV show I watch is running Halloween specials or themed episodes. YouTubers I'm subscribed to are posting only about horror games or video essays about Silent Fucking Hill, which has to go down as the franchise with the highest 'videos-to-units-sold' ratio of any gaming franchise in history.

Now even my Discord notifications have been spookified, as if I needed any more reminders what time of year it is.

And next week, I'm going to have to deal with the doorbell ringing constantly on Thursday evening as all the kids around the area come around on the hunt for Freddos and Tangfastics and while I get that it's a fun thing for kids or anyone who wants to host Halloween themed parties - honestly, have a great time - I just wish it was easy to ignore as Easter or the several other religious or cultural holidays that I don't have any personal connection with.

I don't care about horror games or films. I don't find death or the macabre interesting. I just want to live my life without Halloween not intruding into every aspect of life for the best part of a full month.

Her tragic misfortune was to get involved with a pair of psychos.

But the main conclusion from this report?
