It’s the time of year when media outlets and forums are filled with articles and threads about recommendations, lists, and rankings of horror games.

And in many of those things, Luigi’s Mansion goes unmentioned.

I don’t know how much of that to attribute to people just feeling like the Luigi’s Mansion games aren’t good enough to make these lists, how much is that they just slip people’s minds, or how much of it is that people really just don’t think they even qualify as horror in the first place.

I’m of the opinion that a more all-ages, family-friendly take on horror is still very much horror, and that a certain level of seriousness or intensity is not required to qualify.

Kind of off topic: Man, the sub plot of Robocop 2 about the mayor trying to sell the city to drug lords hits close to home.  

And TV Tropes says the mayor had a point.

It’s probably the best subplot. But the problem with 2 is Robocop’s bad subplot doesn’t match with that subplot, or the subplot with The Oldman. But it has some cool action set pieces in there that hold it up.

I get the general point but Alistair and Zevran have reappeared in both II and Inquisition, though I completely forgot Alistair could die in Origins.

Even earlier then that, ME1 was pretty obvious with how it pushed Liara (which was bit problematic given Bioware's use of the "It's not gay if it's an alien!" trope in ME1-3 (think Andromeda retconned this), including that weird nasty potshot at human wlw parents both being called the mother) as the main romance option given how easily you can romance her compared to Ashley and Kaiden, her bigger focus throughout the series (and easier to reconcile). ME3 was rather infamous two of FemShep's romance options dying on her or straight cheating on her.

I said this in the Unpopular options thread but it is annoying when games play the "Developers' Desired Date" trope, especially when most often it can be clear the same-sex options aren't the "true" ones in the developers eyes like Fallout 4. It's pretty clear Preston and especially Piper were the intended love interests as you meet both of them early in the story, both are good characters easy to increase their idolization of you, both their backstories are meant to invoke your dead spouse and in the case of Piper, her face is mean to look like Nora (your dead wife because the game makes it very clear with the prologue the male PC is the true protagonist, honestly what was with F4 and that (and the forced different-sex marriage)), she pushes to follow you and the only character you can tell the truth about Shaun to (she'll also wear your wedding ring if given).

Speaking of, ME3 also has something similar to the BG3 situation you brought up with Samara. Throughout ME2 and 3, she'll turn you down if you try to romance her (which given the fact she's in mourning both times after losing daughters is completely understandable), yet some fans kept pushing to be able to romance her, with honestly some of the language I saw on the old EA Forums being VERY creepy like saying they were "owed" her etc; which Bioware eventually gave in the Citadel DLC... In a scene where she tells you no again but Shepard keeps pushing until she gives in...

Mia Winters of Resident Evil I remember got this a lot from fans, describing her a perfect innocent woman and "waifu" (don't like using that term) who did nothing wrong and vilify Eveline... Despite the fact she was a Bio-Terrorist working for a Terrorist group led by an Umbrella founder and was one of the people who caused Eveline's torture that eventually caused her to escape and cause the events of RE7&8, yet some fans scream at you if you bring that up or trying to absolve her of all wrong doings.

Some of this feel like the result of people (and devs in many cases) treating games like power fantasies, you're the chosen hero, you're the one who saves the day, you're the one that everyone loves (and those who don't are villains so don't feel bad about it) so the idea of a woman not being interested in you can "break" it for some men's fantasy, any perceived flaw or negative traits demanded to be removed.

That being said, I feel their is a big difference between straight men pushing for women to be their perfect brides and wlw and mlm fans pushing and asking for more representation (through discussion, fan art, fan fiction, shipping, feedback forms companies sometimes do, not harassment, threats, spamming devs personal media accounts etc) in their favourite works, especially if said series is lacking in that field or being very coy with it (I'm not going to be made to feel guilty for what I said earlier in the page for example), especially when the latter groups are often shammed and talked down to be straight men and women.

I had bad experiences with two different dentists and I'm telling you, if you consider going to a dentist, don't. It doesn't work. They are gaslighting you. Just Google what to do with your rotting teeth and do whatever the first reddit post says, it worked great for me!

You need to learn about your personal experiences not being universal. It sounds like you deem it impossible that you and your friend's experiences could ever differ from anyone else's. Like your experience is now an objective truth. It's real weird!

Your scenario would work better if dentists made more money by telling you that you don't have cavities when you can actually feel them.

A better comparison would be if a dentist said you had cavities, and you didn't, and there was no paper trail with X-rays to prove it so all dentists just did the same exact thing.

Obviously that's not the case here, and your comparison is busted.
