Nevermind that Kamala already did Howard Stern and the Beyonce event was shown live on CNN and MSNBC yesterday reaching millions of households, gyms, and other public spaces. Whereas Joe Rogan's Trump interview got no additional media attention beyond its usual platforms and I heard no one mention it outside of Era. On top of that, it caused Trump to be 3 hours late to a rally in a crucial swing state with people actually leaving before he arrived. Trump quite possibly had a net loss of some votes / enthusiasm in a critical state doing Joe Rogan.

Also no one could cite how many of the "millions" of views from Rogan's podcast were actually from important swing states, registered and likely voters. Just like how the popular vote doesn't determine the winner of a presidential election, neither does Youtube view counts. And Trump proved that going on Joe Rogan isn't completely risk free. Trump had homecourt advantage and he still had some negative clips come out of it and the 3 hour length caused him to piss off swing state voters. Anybody who says going on Joe Rogan would be "risk-free" doesn't understand politics and campaigning. Heck, Harris arguably made her biggest blunder of the campaign on The View, the most friendly environment to her. So managing a schedule and doing a proper cost / benefit calculations with each event is extremely important, especially in the final days.

Many Muslims see harm reduction in stopping their loved ones from entering the county vs getting killed by American bombs dropped by American planes flown by Israel. Be it Gaza, West Bank, Lebanon or where ever next the next expansion of Israel will occur.

I've said my part before on how this thread dips into Islamophobia and often outright bigotry when trying to understand why Muslims/MENA people are not supporting Harris. The Dems have essentially disenfranchised these groups through their actions having zero visible support at rallies, the DNC, publicized meeting etc. Dems clearly do not want this support so why is it some mystery that people without a political voice to represent them are trying to find any way to do so when their communities are in crisis.

Biden's and Harris' message of "totally working on a ceasefire" for the least 8 months gave the Trump campaign to a place to appeal to these voices by calling for a quick end to the conflict (something even Israelis don't want, they are happy to use the pace of genocide with all the diplomatic cover Biden affords). Now is he full of shit? Absolutely, but for communities that have such little hope right now and the Dems are casting them aside, it's enough to cling to. Biden has undone over 40 years of diplomatic effort in the region and has now even made Palestinian existence controversial (does anyone seriously believe we could achieve the Camp David Accords today?). This isn't the community, it is the candidate and party's actions.

There also plenty of posts trying to pave over the suffering of communities with painting Muslims as DINOs waiting to return home citing socially conservative factions. Every group does have those faction, Black, Hispanic, South Asian, Eastern Asian etc etc. The difference is that the Dems are fighting for common issues that bring these groups together. For Muslims/MENA groups, they have been abandoned by Dems on the core issues and now secondary topics are taking precedence.

There is an issue that Harris has repeatedly tried to dodge. That her opponent is hitting her on regularly.

She is getting up on stage with Liz Cheney, someone with a clear voting record in line with the GOP when it comes to that issue.

She isn't getting up on stage with people directly affected by that issue, or who have loved ones in places being affected by that issue. We aren't hearing from the families who have lost loved ones because of the evil that is going unchecked.

Her campaign site barely gives the issue a passing mention as she rubs shoulders with people that have done actual harm.

And she *absolutely* still has my vote despite all of this.

This election is about more than that one issue. People in the demographic most affected by that one issue living here in the US and abroad will suffer far more if Trump wins. Not to mention the other demographics that will suffer due to everything else he'll do. Not to mention the damage he'll do to the republic. Not to mention the crimes he'll get away with, and the criminals he will pardon. Not to mention the harm he'll allow to happen to the environment. Not to mention the evil people he'll enrich as he destroys the economy and balloons the deficit.

If in order to win, Kamala Harris has to avoid talking about trans rights... I'm personally okay with that.

Polls indicate an extremely close race, but all signs in the real world indicate a decisive Harris win. It's really interesting. We will see what happens. I'm not saying Harris is definitely going to win, but there are realistic reasons to doubt the polls (the huge numbers of Republicans pledging support for Harris, the fired up woman vote, the excitement of a "new" candidate over someone that has run three times in a row, etc.).

And that's just to begin with. He's a real life Grima Wormtongue.

I've been thinking about this a lot lately. It's clear she doesn't want to talk about it at all, despite it being Trump's closing argument. I'm partially frustrated because I don't think it'd be that hard to say "Listen, trans people deserve respect and not to be used a political weapon. I think we need to focus more on X." That little signal would probably enough to not evoke outrage or avoid the GOP framing. But either way, it's sad this is where we are.

I also wonder what Obama's campaign in '08 would have been like if we had the modern internet? How furious would people have been about his gay marriage stance and clear political calculations on the issue?

GOP has the insane advantage of being able to basically say publicly appealing things while their base understands they don't mean it. Ideally Democrats could get to a similar place by voting democrats no matter what then primary-ing any democrat who isn't more progressive and applying the same kind of pressures the GOP do. The problem being that it's much easier to do that when conservatism is built around self-centeredness and it kind of goes against some of the reasons people vote Democrat.

Ultimately I think the Democrats best long term strategy is anti-rich/anti-elite sentiment. Imagine if there was a Fox News equivalent that did nothing but highlight all the heinous shit these megacorporations and ultra rich people do on a daily basis? Unfortunately the rich seem keenly aware of this and quash anything/anyone like this quickly.
