We live in parallel realities.

In either outcome, the vultures will argue they need to go further left/right. But from observations on both sides, that Trump is in play is from center to center-left people feeling abandon by the Democrats. That’s true for Republicans and Trump. None of that is new. Every election has Republicans and Democrats "endorsing for the first time" someone across the aisle and it's treated as this amazing thing when it's totally normal. You have to serve at least two years for it to kick in. LBJ did not count but Ford did. Harris could have taken over when Biden dropped out and still serve two full terms.
