The United States essentially does not have caps on state health care while the state also mandates all kinds of things, including gender affirming care, be in all plans even "minimum" and "catastrophic" plans. Americans are not used to the state telling them they can't have something and will riot if they feel the state is doing anything to take away their imagined right to other people's money.

It can't be individuals paying out of pocket because you can't come up with that figure by dividing two variables: national health expenditures by population. Imagine just hypothetically if everyone in the United States didn't get sick or injured for an entire year, the "cost" out of pocket would plummet towards $0. Everyone would still be paying for insurance though.

The actual problematic thing in the chart is using life expectancy, which is a stupid metric for what they're trying to show. They should use something like cancer survival rates or child mortality. But then the chart wouldn't show what they're trying to argue. Americans don't pay more for less, they pay more for more and the best, just much of it is only "necessary" because of lifestyle choices. As the bigots on here regularly point out: FAT.

What I like about "war criminal" and "genocide" (compared to "Nazi" and "racist") is that these are rather technical terms but they've decided to strip them of meaning.
