As a British person, the way the CMA are acting gives me no confidence that the UK is a place to either do business, or start a business

Something I noticed happening recently-ish:
It used to be the common thing when going down the pub with friends (this is in the UK BTW) to openly talk politics and 'set the world to rights' over a few pints.
You'd discus big topics, Religion, sex, politics, all the stuff you don't talk about at work, you could have a good ol' vent about down the pub and get all your dumb opinions off your chest.

That just doesn't happen anymore. The second someone mentions anything political, everyone else clams up and the conversation quickly dies. Now the only things we talk about are Netflix shows, games, and the things we did in the week - the same safe, inofensive topics you talk about at work.
It's not even like we are that different politically. Some of us are very left-leaning, others centre-left-ish, but even that divide seems big enough to make any mention of politics feel like someone stood on an eggshell.

Dunno if anyone else's friend group has shifted like this lately, or if its just my lot.

It's just your lot. Also I talk about "offensive" or "unsafe" topics at work too because they aren't offensive and we have this little thing called Free Speech.

We are heading almost to an area where money will no longer be relevant because the top 1% will have all of it and the bottom 95% will have next to nothing. At that stage of capitalism what is even going to be the point of money. If a banana costs a million dollars who cares if you get $1500/month in UBI. I'm not even sure if a future UBI will even be paid out in currency. It might just have to be direct funding for housing/food/utilities.
