Yeah she might get iced out more by the GOP but clearly that is going to happen anyway since they've already dehumanized her and stripped away her identity.

So she should burn her political capital and make herself a one term congresswoman? What will that do for trans rights, exactly? All it will show to the public is that all trans people care about is access to women's bathrooms.

It's called respectability politics, it's been a political concept for a while (I want to say since the 60s but I'm no expert) and I don't think I could give you an example of it actually leading to any meaningful change.

The idea that toning down/denying who you are, or casting out members/aspects of the community that don't come across as "normal" to conservative white people, will ingratiate you to them just doesn't work in reality. Because it isn't that they don't confirm to their standards, it's their entire existence that they hate.
