Anti-trans wedge issues like trans people in sports and using bathrooms are some of the most effective issues for the GOP. The gender affirming care for transgender inmates ads polled extremely well for Trump this cycle, and Republicans are going to take that ball and run with it.

Transgender people are ~1% of the population. When compared with other issues like inflation or cost of living, most Americans don't care as much as the right wing bullhorns claim they do, because it doesn't materially affect their everyday lives. But those issues are GREAT at stoking outrage. The sheer thought of some brolic tattooed inmate using the women's restroom!! This doesn't happen, but the thought gets people outraged and distracts them from the true issues i.e. wealthy politicians and donors stealing from government coffers through tax breaks and spending cuts.

Every trans person deserves the right to live their lives free of discrimination and to protected from these freaks out to target them. But we can't let them control the narrative on this. Taking the bait distracts from the absolute clown show this administration is about to be. Call out every time they fail to make the average persons life better, run as a referendum on the administration, win elected office, pass laws protecting LGBTQ persons. In that order.

Do either of you have a link to a guide for a beginner using these? Always heard they were the way to go but was fine with streaming, but lately I have been trying to listen/find some old stuff that isn't readily available.

*** is real simple. Just download the client, create an account, log in, and try running a search. You'll figure out the rest. Maybe you might have to open a port in your firewall and/or router too? But idk, try it and you might be surprised. I'm on Windows and recommend the Qt-based client, which still gets updates. YT also has how-to vids if you need them.

So if you can find a physical CD, that will be the ONLY option until that's dealt with.

It's not 2003, you don't need to download Soulseek. You don't have to torrent unless you want discographies or something somebodies already assembled for you. There are so many websites you can just type whatever you want in. There are websites like Lucida that literally grab the files off Spotify. You can grab them off YouTube if you're desperate.

They all use Reddit, it has lists upon lists of this shit.

Sorry sorry don't bother searching for easily found things on the internet. Make sure y'all organizing instead. That's how you can get away from streaming sites like Twitch or Spotify, just listen to me and organize.

Yeh, and people think this is a battle to fight. That being called a man on national TV before being told to use the men's bathroom is something worth standing your ground and fighting back on as a woman. That complying with little more than a 'we disagree but ok , there are more important things to deal with' signals that bathroom bans are something trans people may object to but aren't necessarily willing to fight over.

It begs the question of when the issues trans Americans face will be seen as a 'proper' concern. After all Trump has vowed to remove healthcare, education, access to public spaces and anti-discrimination laws protecting trans people. Isn't now the right time to protest open and explicit transphobia? After 5 years of declining rights across America to the point entire states are considered off limits, why would the trans community not want a trans woman in her position to push back on being forced to use the men's bathroom? To speak to how it's something trans people across the country are either subjected to or face in the near future.

She speaks to it being a distraction tactic instead of being emblematic of where trans rights and safety are at in 2024 after years of the trans community's issues being overlooked in favour of those considered more important.
