DS was weird too though. I still don't understand why it did so well. Most games were mid or downright bad even Nintendo IPs like Yoshi Touch & Go and Zelda: Phantom Hourglass.

The graphics weren't good and neither were the screens. Control wise it was a mess. The Stylus worked ok I guess.

I think everyone's wet dream is to see Bungie returning to producing "finite" games with single player and multiplayer modes, but no one knows if Sony and Bungie actually want that. Either way, it's hard to deny that it's one of the worst purchases any company could have made in the last 10 years.

Bungie has cultivated a very large playerbase over the past 10 years through one of the most successful live service games, and you think "everyone" wants them to return to the type of game they made back in 2007-2010? lol

 

Why the fuck you think that Bungie decided to make their next game part of the same series from 30 year old single player game? 

Yes, the Destiny audience is different from the Halo/Marathon one, but let’s not kid ourselves that is still not a significant portion of their audience or that Destiny “success” has not been with some asterisks (unkempt promises, changing publishers, outright lying to Sony about their value).

Destiny inability to attract new players is also a big issue that people have commented on every time the “success” of Destiny is discussed. The fact that extraction shooters are a hyper niche audience should worry people about player retention. Sony bought them to help them in their ill conceived live service initiative, to grow, not to be perpetually stagnant like Destiny is.

I remember playing Destiny 1 on Xbox One, thinking it was neat and had great potential but still the concept needed a lot of work.

Little did I know most developers would use that as the blueprint for shooters going forward. I think it's half the reason why so many Destiny type games like Anthem failed because the foundation was so poor. Everyone has been making abysmal Destiny clones up until Redfall.
