I'm headed out to the west coast(mainly Portland, Oregon) for a couple of weeks for the first time since the pandemic hit and starting to feeling a bit anxious about things. I haven't lived in the States since 2011, and every time I go back there are obviously changes here and there, but since the pandemic kind of flipped the world on its head, I just wanna make sure I have my bases covered.

But that's the problem. Ultimately we went from protests, to riots with no changes. While I agree that burning down a residential housing is community self harm (if they are even from the same community) the next logical level is outright violence and that's where we are now. Sadly, the mention of the Mayor's house being burned and family threatened, that's the next logical step to force pressure.

There's no way to do nice unrest, and as usual it lies with the state fucking this up for a very very very long time and leaving a lawless power vacuum .
