I was curious how bluesky have kept things going for as long as it has being "decentralized".

I decided to look up who's actually funding bluesky and it's like 7 VC funds that opaque their members.


Online freedom fighters are having anti consumerism meetings in mcdonalds.

Bluesky isn't decentralized, you have to go through their servers if you use the protocol. Bluesky was funded by Twitter and was part of the company, when Musk bought it he obviously wasn't going to fund a competitor and Dorsey preferred his other protocol.

From what I understand, Bluesky's future monetizing plans are "what Twitter did before Musk." If you actually look at anything about the company they don't have any interest in being some kind of radical anti-capitalist platform, they want to be Twitter circa 2021. (Which I would note was not profitable.)
