Anyway, my stance is there is a small part of the queer community that are self-righteous assholes who believe themselves to be the most morally pure because they still mask and anyone who does anything else "doesn't care" or "hates so and so group". They are unreasonable and ultimately unpleasable because you will always run afoul of them eventually.

Two data points worth noting about the Boston Globe story here:

1) Before this story appeared, a podcast had covered this story the week before. That podcast? Jesse Singal and Katie Herzog. For anyone who doesn't recognize those names, they're both giant anti-trans bigots. Doesn't necessarily mean that the Globe wrote this up after hearing it from them, but given the really small scale of this story, it's almost certain that there's a common origin between those two stories and it's not just coincidental that the story written up to be a conservative wet dream had recently been covered by noxious bigots.

2) The same day the Boston Globe posted this story, it was running next to an op-ed about how, hey, incredibly cherrypicked statistics say violence against trans people is going down, so you should definitely discount anyone saying otherwise as untrustworthy liars.

Yes, it is true that the United States, Russia, and China do not recognize the jurisdiction of the International Criminal Court (ICC).

These three major powers have not ratified the Rome Statute, the treaty that established the ICC in 2002, and explicitly refuse to accept its authority over their citizens or military personnel.

United States: Signed the treaty in 2000 but formally withdrew its signature in 2002, citing concerns that the court infringes on U.S. sovereignty and lacks constitutional protections like jury trials.
China: Never signed the Rome Statute, arguing that the ICC’s jurisdiction violates national sovereignty and risks political interference.
Russia: Initially engaged with the court but withdrew its signature in 2016 after the ICC classified the annexation of Crimea as an occupation and issued an arrest warrant for President Vladimir Putin.
While these countries do not recognize the ICC, the court retains limited jurisdiction over their nationals if alleged crimes occur on the territory of a member state.
