Think about this from time to time. Self dox, my parents aren’t American, and therefore don’t believe in mental health. As a kid, sometimes you’re confused. I had friend with ADHD whose parents would get them on pills. I’d tell my parents, “maybe I have ADHD?” and the response was “No. You’re just lazy.” That was the end of those conversations. Not that I’d want pills, but understanding what’s up goes a long way. So I think awareness and removing the stigma is good. The badging yourself with mental illness is the other extreme. Maybe that’s based on how I was raised. I don’t know. Parents kept stressing how one shouldn’t label themselves.

I gotta say, seeing ZeoVGM banned for 3 months is the best, and most unexpected, plot twist on ResetEra in late 2023.

On Era, Jeff had to obey certain "Era social norms". He had a degree of protection from the Mods and was more restrained in his behavior.

But now that he's been banned, and Twitter is his only means of online interaction, it's like seeing a severely autistic kid step out of his bedroom, interact with the world for the first time and see that people aren't as nice as Mommy and Daddy.

It's definitely been a rude awakening for ZeoVGM to 1, see how much people actually hated him on Era and 2, having people tell him fuckoff to his face with no repercussions, as he can't go reporting posts and running to the Mods to get them banned.

I truly hope he gets another 3 months ban when his current one is over.

He's pure entertainment.

Kojima rules but it's not 100% accuracy and your mileage may vary. The quality can be absolute dogshit (death stranding is a low point for me) but in the future people will hail Kojima as a precocious writer of historic importance, who popularised many of the ideas and questions that underpin the world and society in the 21st century. Bold claim for some dude who does videogames, but again, he is Andy Warhol or Philip K Dick and I thoroughly believe that in time his genius will be an accepted fact across mediums. You can already see it in how Hollywood drools for him. It's easy to get caught up in the animoo stuff but the big picture with Kojima is he's the late 20th century's best contribution to speculative fiction.

Another thing he needs mad credit for, imo, is his product design. All of the tech in all of his games, all of his fucking tat on the website, is beautiful and outrageously designed. His instagram is awesome, well worth a follow. He is the current master of fictional robots and spaceships and his taste in fiction, films, games, food, clothes etc etc is top tier. I wish I was him tbh.

A French movie about Dirty Harry in Japan.

Military nerd stuff in Japan is fun. Random stores will have full replicas of Nazi uniforms, blood and soil knives, and Hitler speeches on dvd. Right next to Harry Potter costumes. Guilt by associating for the SS.

Any other game would've made the Russo/Afghan or Cold War simply the setting of the game. Kojima merely makes it background noise in a complex web of conspiracies and alternate history going back decades with unmatched detail that predict past, present and future events in the real world with remarkable accuracy.
