I agree, but the reason why It's being hated is because how the discourse around it has been framed.

Much like this thread the first thing as a latino in LATAM you'll probably hear about this intro is:

"Hey do you think this new latino Disney show is racist?" without the context that it's in California.

So latinos in LatAm immediately brace for impact and the first thing they see is the yellow filter as the setting.

At that point you're already at -10000 points in the tolerance scale.

Then you get hit with the "Latinos crammed in a single room" stereotype.

And just like that you're already in "Ah sí, que se joda esta mierda" mode.

And by "Oye Primos" you've already reached the bitch eating crackers phase where you absolutely hate it irrationally.

I have already apologized for my initial reaction without context, but the above is happening to many, even here, because there are some stereotypes there and the "Hey look at this racist shit" introduction before you even watch it is spreading like wildfire.

I feel for the creators (outside that stupid VA)  but Disney Corpo kind of mismanaged the message of what the show is about, they have done well in the past ( COCO ) Doesn’t help that Twitter are being clueless assholes as always (seems like little has changed with Elon in the helm in the progressive side of it).

Maybe this could help everyone to reflect how diversity is more complicated than “just make quirky well intentioned stuff” when people go ballistic or hyper defensive for nothing in the current socio political climate. (And stuff that maybe should be questioned gets a free pass because the “correct” people justifies it).

Fjenosenumeritos should remember that outrages are not always justifiable by feelings, people got mad about Memin Pinguin getting cancelled even if there is legit reasons why is considered a racist caricature even with good intentions.

The actual truth is people are ignorant and don't want to back down when they are wrong. I bet the biggest reason why it's hated is because they probably think this show is created by a bunch of White Americans appropriating Hispanic culture. Then it just snowballs from that into constant goalpost moving.

This feels like a hollow point to me, but you can justify returning to Reddit however you like. You are losing grasp of the point if some mods using the Reddit to discuss the game makes you think the protest was ridiculous. It’s not about denying access it’s about drawing attention to the fuckery of what Spez and Reddit are doing.

This isn’t the UK party gate where the premise is specifically don’t use the Reddit because it can spread a disease. It was about denying Reddit its traffic to draw attention to what is happening and in that case it was very successful. Now if this was to extend to a “we are shutting this Reddit down permanently”, then you would have a point but it hasn’t got there yet. To me it looks like we might see a labor dispute sooner than later as mods are starting to grumble and make rules design to subvert the terms and conditions, but it could also just lead to some communities dying and being reborn elsewhere.

I ordered the CE minutes after it went live. I looking forward to getting the statue. I didn't play the demo as I am saving it in case my copy gets delayed.

It's my most hyped game for the year. Once it's finished it's on to Final Fantasy VII Rebirth preparation.

Big HYPED ever !!!! always said it, but i bought my ps5 because of this game ! ( and then...for sony exclusive, but this game was the one i wanted with forspoken..XD)
And even at first i said to myself i m not going to play the demo...i did play it and i m in love with the world, story , characters !

I think the inherent problem is when they set up Era, none of them had a genuine clue as to how to moderate a forum in the truest sense of the word and their only case example was GAF whose moderation method was constant bans, esp post-gamergate for daring to say anything out of the orthodoxy of the moderator's beliefs. Couple that with some of the worst stunt casting of the most odious special interest posters at GAF and you have an absolute recipe for disaster of Jonestown proportions.

They're not moderating, they're tone policing on a grandiose scale. Essentially each playing Witchunter looking for reasons to hand out bans to the point of absolute absurdity and the detriment of reason. In fact they've banned more members than they have active members at this juncture. New member sign-ups are well unto 6 digit IDs. Banned members don't disappear from the database.
