Searching back through the Ukraine thread for old info has been vitally useful at times.

I think if a technical solution can't be found, the mod team should consider just putting it into the ToS that nobody should use it and give out warnings for a while if people continue to do it

I don't really see the need to preserve old embeds, it's no different than content breaking due to sites like abload going offline. Keeping them around also gives people an off ramp towards a nazi sponsored media, at the very least any old embed should be presented with a warning.

The ideal end-state for twitter is it's dead and offline, which would break all of those embeds anyway.

Yeah I'd be so mad I couldn't find twitter embeds to continue to support Nazis.

Could we make it site policy that the use of x/twitter links is heavily frowned upon for political and technical reasons (clicking through when not signed in is awful), and encourage the use of alternative news sources or screenshots if needed. Important news sourcing could still be allowed.
