It's really hard to look at this news and draw any conclusion other than "US based AAA game development is not profitable enough for investors".

Passion is a hell of a thing and it'll lead you into some crazy places but you'd have to be damn near suicidal to try and break into the games industry right now, especially in the west. You'd be better off getting a Masters in Comedy, you'd actually have a better shot of finding a stable gig.

See, I'm not going to ask you to playthrough what amounts to 100s of hours of prequels just to enjoy the new hotness game that just dropped. No, you don't have to play Yakuza 1 to enjoy Yakuza 6 (or 7 or 8 especially). It stands on its own. No you don't have to play the 30-60 hour RPG that is called kingdom come deliverance to enjoy the second game. Just jump in and enjoy the current zeitgeist that is going on right now. Revisit the prequels if you really want more afterwards but now is always the perfect time to play the new hotness.

You are interested in this game because you saw or heard something about it.... now. So play the game that caught your attention in the present. The older game(s) didn't catch your attention for a reason. It is likely that whence you start the prequel you'll either:

Burn out trying to rush through it. Or..
Lose interest altogether because the games mechanics/graphics probably haven't aged well.
A bit of a confession: I. NEVER. PLAYED. FF7. I only played the remakes and I WILL NEVER PLAY FF7.

And guess what: I thoroughly enjoyed the remakes (outside of Gongaga). Holy shit the combat is godlike. I would have hated the series if I played OGFF7 TODAY. Especially because I hate jrpg turn based combat especially the kind that was popular back then. But that's another topic for another day...

So satisfy your curiosity and play that game that caught your attention. You can skip the BS and get straight to the good stuff. Play metal gear solid 4 as your first game in the series. Play Yakuza Gaiden first if the thought of playing a suave Japanese man in a bling'd out gadget suit sounds like something up your alley. No it shouldn't be a requirement that you play previous games in a series when everyone else is discussing the new stuff.

Don't feel guilty for enjoying the now. Just jump in.

Anyone makes a dollar more than you they're rich and entitled and shouldn't complain; and anyone making less hasn't worked as hard as you and you're not wealthy you just earned your keep.

He was definitely huffing his own farts on Interstellar and Tenet reviewed poorly (I haven't seen it). The Dark Knight and The Dark Knight Rises were both way too long.

I need to get onto watching Oppenheimer and Dunkirk though.

While I'm personally usually indifferent to the casting choices the fact that many films and series through the years tended to "blackwash" some of our historical or mythological figures according to the directors' views doesn't mean that it's right.

Having Lupita Nyong'o as Athena is like having a white actor playing a native African historical/mythological figure so...yeah ?
Similar casting choices have happened multiple times in the past too, see also The Return.
My main gripe is the complete lack of native greek actors though, not their area of origin.

Sharing my experience at the Saint Paul, MN protest. It was -8 F, and that's before windchill. It was very windy here and we had an Extreme Cold Weather warning, but we still had almost 1000 people show up. People were so nice handing out hand warmers and just genuinely looking out for each other. No conflicts that I saw and no counter protesters. I even got a laugh for my sign from one of the security guards. It was a great experience, but I hope the next one is warmer.

I think it's hilarious that Resetera, of all places, is suddenly not interested in actors having accurate racial characteristics when it comes to film representation. 

They've done this twice in recent memory with historically Greek characters alone. 

This thread (to me) is about pointing out the hypocrisy of those holier than thou cunts and this is a HUGE one considering how whitewashed and blackwashed this cast is.
