This is difficult to talk about but my daughter has been hospitalized twice now for expressing suicidal ideation. She's 12 and has dealt with a lot of bullying for being autistic and queer. I can barely deal with it. It crushes my whole soul. My ex-wife and I are doing absolutely everything we can for her, therapy, psychiatry, sensory diet, locking up dangerous objects at home. But kids are going through it, especially now that the MAGA dipshits are running the show.

I feel for this dude's kid but I think I may have diagnosed an aggravating factor here... 

"I know it's tough baby, but remember that your mom and I are here for you. However, this protection does not apply with regards to the all-powerful, bloodthirsty demons are circling over your bed each night. Those are definitely real and definitely present, nothing can be done about them, and they are targeting you, specifically.

Being fair, those demons have been drumming the song on TV for months even if they are actually toothless to actually do it.

Democrats as a Party are incapable of getting through to people because A.) Most of them are lame-ass dorks with no passion, conviction, or ability to actually inspire anyone, even their own voters sometimes, and B.) They believe in a contradictory ideology that is not actually convincing to anyone except the people who've drank the most blue Kool-Aid, and even then those who've drank the Kool-Aid will literally tell you sometimes they don't vote for Democrats so much as they vote for "the lesser evil" or "against Republicans." Yeah, a real ringing endorsement.

Democrats as a voter base are also incapable of it because one of the first things you learn about trying to politically educate the masses is that you cannot operate as if they are sub-human while trying to do the education. You cannot bank knowledge into them, nor can you speak with hubris and authority, because you- too- are also apart of those same masses. However, most Democratic voters think Trump voters are subhuman, so lol.

Yes I have good psychiatry and psychology care, but being a queer neurodivergent minority in this country is just being bludgeoned by a society that hates you at every turn. And then with what happened the last few weeks and me being a scientist, I just kind of feel trapped in a country that wants me dead or bankrupt or homeless or all of the above in whichever order. I have a critical psych med I've been fighting my new insurance company to cover for over a week now and I'm lucky to be able to say that. Hell is here on earth :(

As a father of 4 kids, and my oldest just turned 11, this hurts the core of my soul. What a tragedy. This is why I ask my kids every single day how their day was at school and if anything happened, if anyone messed with them, if they're feeling alright. Not saying the parents didn't do that here either, but just more of a wake up call for me. RIP.

This is something that has been frustrating me so much lately when it comes to news media, both in US and here in the UK, there seems to be nothing that can be done against news media from actively promoting hate, lies and propaganda, nothing that holds them accountable for shoddy Journalism (honestly at this point, I don't consider most journalists that, just parrot and presenters); and I just don't mean now, I mean for decades.

I wrote a thread about this not so long ago, but it pisses me the fuck off that the UK media flat out got away with their dangerous lethal reporting of Ander Wakefield's "report" and their constant push and support for him that got so many kids killed both then during the MMR scare and now as we still feel the after effects of it around the world. Wakefield and the Anti-Vax movement would never have gotten the influence and power they had and have if it wasn't for the fucking British press failing to actually read the report, listen to the rest of the Scientific community; no spread lies and hate, dehumanize autistic people like myself and not give a fucking damn about the blood on their hand. And we're seeing the same again with how the UK press treat Trans people and I just know none of them will ever be held accountable for given fucking shits like Rowling a loudspeaker, never fucking be held accountable for their shoddy reporting, refusing to report about the dangers and lies of the Cass Report; all the while pretending to be shocked and applaud by the after affects when Trans people die. And FUCK the BBC for "both siding", the BBC has never been neutral, they've always given too much attention to hate and conspiracy theorists.

And yeah I'm not ignoring the US here, all the news media just seems complicit, I genuinely would not know what's fully happening there if it wasn't for sites like here highlighting the protests. And to be blunt, I heavily blame the media for the rise of Trump and Musk, I don't think either would have the popularity they have if they weren't evangelising them for decades, giving them shows like the Apprentice, crediting them as "creating" shit they didn't, declaring them geniuses, just like always seem to do to white rich people for doing nothing but be rich white people and maybe tech bros; from the likes of Logan Paul and Mr Beast to "industry leaders" like CEOs.

I just wish there was a way to combat that, to actually hold news media in general to task for spreading fear and hate.
