I admit I'm not the biggest fan either of the game and honestly do get annoyed when the games biggest fanboys barge into discussions of other games to tell everyone why that game's inferior and EVERY RPG should be like it.

The main issue is that I just didn't like the combat and the dice based system (which I've never like in any video game) and just DO NOT want that to be the norm. It's weird because I have no issues with that on actual tabletop games like Warhammer and I really enjoy turn based mechanics in other games like Fire Emblem and Pokemon, but here, everything just felt tedious, a slog to get through (I WISH there was a fast forward button) and overly focused on menus. I honestly just dreaded getting into combat because I just halted any fun I was having with the game and was the main reason I stopped and gave up. It didn't help that it felt like some classes were too under strength at the beginning which just made it impossible to roleplay at the class I wanted, I wanted to play as a bard but just couldn't so ended up as a Mage JUST to make combat easier which ruined a lot of the roleplay for me; which further isn't helped that I just couldn't stand Astarion but was forced to have him in my part JUST to unlock doors and chest, I just didn't like it.

Honestly, I just did not like the gameplay, which is frustrating because I liked the story and many of the characters, I WANTED to follow the story but it felt like the game constantly blocked and got in the way of it to the point I just gave up. Like even something as simple as switching out a party member felt like it took too many steps then it needed.

I also just didn't like I was being told off and pressured into sex with characters like Astarion and Lae'zel and honestly and this is something I have issue with so many RPGs, I'm sick of the playersexual as a mechanic and just want CANON lesbian and gay companions and protagonists in RPGs; it was really hard not to notice how after Baldur's Gate 3 released, several RPG fans REALLY got into the idea that Lesbians and gay men had no place in RPGs, that our existence, the idea of women and men not interested in them "Ruins their power fantasy" or "Break their immersion" or stuff like "They can be gay in someone else's game!", making it clear they consider our sexuality invalid, that the characters are just dolls for their desires, that we should just fuck off and be hidden away because we aren't wanted in the Baldur's Gate or the RPG fandom. I'm sorry but I am fucking done with this shit, Lesbians and gay men have every fucking right to be represented, there SHOULD be prominent canon lesbian and gay characters, we should be able to romanced and our sexuality acknowledged, fuck anyone, from press, dev to fan who says otherewise.

Further not helping this Astarion fans REALLY being pushy for quite a while, really pushing that you MUST love the character and romance him, that you MUST find him sexy and got nasty if you said you didn't which as a lesbian, just fuck off with that.

Honestly that was the thing I hated the most, just how damn aggressive the fandom was that I was utterly afraid to criticize the game on this site because it's fans seemed they just dogpile, harass and mock anyone with even the mild of critiques on the game. It was a frustrating experience. You MUST think the game is the best thing ever made, otherwise it's acceptable to bully you, mock you, throw ableist shit at you because you're somehow a bad person. I hate this like that you can still see it in this thread.

I also DMed [USER=8369]Dictator[/USER] highlighting that now v3.1 had/has a resounding success with much more noticeable improvements, even on super high end CPUs like 9950X3D + 9070XT like this comparison (not done by me):

But I get that I was too late and they had probably already recorded the Direct. It's ok.



It would be cool if they will revist this with v3.1 in the near future but even if they don't I'm pretty happy by the reception most users are having with it (so not only my experience)



I'm also very glad and proud the mod is still the #1 mod on Nexusmods for Oblivion Remastered (out of 2.000+ mods already available) with also over 4.600 endorsments which objectively cannot be all placebo.
