Regarding the first part of your post, I have no idea what you're talking about. And it's becoming increasingly impossible to link to anything on this forum without someone getting offended by something that isn't exactly common knowledge.

Also, as far as I know, there is no list of banned sources that users can check before sharing something, and there's an entire thread dedicated to a recent video from that channel—without any mod intervention or it getting locked. So, forgive me for not realizing there's controversy beyond the subject of their videos.

As for the second part, I agree, and I thought the irony in my previous comment was clear enough. Their RE4R video cemented their reputation as not only nitpicky, but also straight up deceitful. I'll edit my post to make that even more clear and also remove the hyperlink.

I feel like more and more, I've come to the conclusion that for some, their only allies, whether trans allies, feminist allies etc until their favourite thing is criticized for it, in which case they'll suddenly turn. You see that a lot with Rowling and HP but I feel it's so damn universal and kind of makes it clear people care more about their heroes, favourite works of fiction then women and minorities.

Like in the game community, we saw how many people turned on trans people with CD Projekt Red was criticized for the marketing of Cyberpunk 2077, the Wizard game of course and something I always remember, how so many people tried to shame trans people who didn't want to buy Activision Blizzards games after their history of transphobic abuse came out, I remember the thread about on ERA had people quoting journalists like Patricia Hernandez, Jason Schreier and Alanah Pearce to shame trans people not wanting to buy from that company.

I say this because I'd kind of dreading now the release of GTA6 because given how I'm seeing today people justifying,, downplaying and even mock the series misogyny and sexist treatment of women (because because of hype for the game and to annoy chuds upset about sex (which like I said in the Gamergate 2.0 thread, I don't believe many of the people supporting and defending the sex in GTA6 trailer would be if it didn't include leering shots of Lucia Caminos arse or if she wasn't conveniently attractive (see the freakout and anger against Abby's sex scene in The Last of Us Part 2), or if the sex scene was instead a non-exploitative same-sex scene between two men or two women), like seriously why is the idea of killing prostitutes now considered funny?). A series women reviewers have routinely been sent death threats and harassed by fans for daring to criticize the game for it's treatment of women, even in glowing reviews of the game.

I'm sorry but after today, if GTA6 has transphobic shit (and given the series is known to hit down, has had transphobic shit in the past and Rockstar history of having a "boys club" work culture, I really there is a good chance it will for a cheap joke) people on ERA and the internet will turn against and dogpiling trans people for speaking out. I'm really dreading that.

Feels to me like you have to be someone that's realllllly bought into patriarchy, intentionally or otherwise. Patriarchy and gender norms really do seep into every aspect of human life in ways people struggle to realize even with schooling on the topic (for example, I remember reading about some feminist author that realized that even they were unconsciously checking the time on their watch more often when women were giving presentations versus when men were, just due to the societal conditioning that men are more "authoritative"). Lots of people seem to use gender expectations as some degree of foundation of their identity, commonly seen in men who still get all insecure if anything feminine even brushes against their idea of "self." And we know from Rowling's own work that she basically views maintaining the status quo as the ultimate "good," like any conservative, and there isn't any hierarchy as old as the gender hierarchy.

Then you have stuff where people have this false notion of hard lines in biology, thinking that the oversimplified explanation of sex they got in elementary school is the entire explanation, or that (as another example) different species are actually different "things" instead of moving boxes we try to classify over biology doing whatever the fuck it feels like doing. That second part about biology (or just the natural world in general) being a hugely complicated pile of gradations we attempt to vaguely classify into porous boxes with language is a lesson I think should be a lot more common.

I guess that was just a long way of saying that bigots are ignorant and insecure and value conformity over reality. Which we already knew, so... yeah.
