Despicable. I worked in FAANG for close to 5 years at Google. I can say from experience there is a very powerful pro-Zionist pro-Israel lobby inside these tech companies. Lot of ex Unit 8200 folks who have backgrounds in security and surveillance, as it happens. They exploit a lot of the same hasbara tactics you see in public forums like reddit. Basically, any form of legitimate protest gets branded as anti-Semitism, and bad actors will join internal discussions on organizing, say outrageous things to instigate hostility, and get discussions shut down under the guise of TOS violations. I saw this happen numerous times. It even got to the point where when we had safe space calls for Arabs/Muslims, we required people to turn on their cameras and have their names displayed, because there were folks infiltrating safe spaces to stir things up.

And of course when employees finally did protest and take over the office of GCP's CEO, it was scorched earth. All those employees and anyone who collaborated with them were fired, and harsh messages were sent out to deter people from doing those kinds of actions.

I have no doubt the same thing happens at Microsoft, Meta, etc.

At the same time this doesn't mean people think Israel doesn't have a right to exist at all and should be wiped off the map like your RE friends like to imply. 

Also at this point I'd start wondering why RE always complains that pro-palestine protests are mislabeled as pro-Hamas while they themselves never miss an opportunity to defend pro-hamas protesters.

A lot of people in US dream of being a voice actor and put in blood/sweat/tears to just get INTO the industry. And in the US, unless you're a high profile actor, you're just not going to get paid a lot. The job really isn't that prestigious compared to say Japan. People going into this occupation are doing it for the passion and that's it. I can't imagine how dejected these people feel when they see developers move to non-NA countries simply because how this entire situation unfolded. And it really is sad because it sets the NA VA industry back in so many ways with a possibility to not recover.

I feel no deep emotional affinity for the United States as a whole because it has never actually considered people like me full-fledged citizens with all of the inalienable rights and privileges it affords to its preferred demographics. So appeals to how brave it is to stay and fight feel hollow. Like, why does this country deserve me? Because otherwise it'll be "hollowed out by MAGA?" Sucks to suck; maybe if America wasn't a shitheap of a settler-colonial state, I would be more swayed to want to defend its existence as an entity. But whites proved once again they'd rather tear the government up then to just let other folks live in peace, so fuck it. Let them finally figure out how to organize and save the country.
