I used to mod a crossdressing fetish forum before I realized I wasn't a kinkster but trans. I actually did this for years--like six years.

The experience was largely feeling a little apart from the community, trying to teach people how to properly tag their pictures/porn because not everyone was into watersports or scat, and strangely banning homophobes. Also axing spambots/spam posts.

Being a mod on GAF is at least partially responsible for making me a jaded and miserable person in online discussions. At the time, I cared deeply about trying to improve the community, but in many cases it was futile. I would probably not have stepped down on my own under normal circumstances, but being freed of it made me realize that I never want to do anything like that ever again.

If women really are such shallow and uninteresting creatures, ones only occasionally worthy of having their own names, only good for fucking and dying and even then not doing any actual fucking, why include them in the first place?

And I’m disappointed to see that something this obviously misogynistic has received unchecked blanket praise for so long. It’s an RPG for people who think females, the word spat out like that, don’t belong in the genre unless they’ve got their tits out. Yes, some people were teenagers when they first played it. Or children. Some grown adults weren’t even born when this game came out. They didn’t know better, and that’s OK.

I think the unfortunate problem is that people do give a fuck. Way too much so in consideration of the tiny population we are talking about. The issue has consistently polled horribly, even with dem constituents in blue states, let alone other demographics and states. The polling is even worse with parents who have kids in school too from what I've seen. Kamala tried to side step it/ignore it and got blasted by commercials throughout the campaign about sports and "transgender prisoners!!". I don't think the party knows what to do with the issue at all at this point, there's no guiding message, and public opinion isn't really changing.

LEADERS can change people's minds on these things. Maybe if they educated themselves on the topic, and spoke rationally, they could either convince people that the whole thing is a nakedly political tactic to drag *everyone's* rights backwards, or highlight how absurd it is for the government to get into the business of dictating who is allowed to chase a ball around a middle school together.
