Hi all,

Having a hard time knowing where to turn because I don't really have any good friends to talk to.

I've been married for nearly 15 years, together for 17. After years of miscommunication leading to blowups, it seems like we won't be reconciling this time. We have 2 kids and a few other complicated things to tackle.

I am fucking struggling with this so bad. I don't know how I am just supposed to exist now? I've dedicated my life to this family, I don't know how I'm supposed to get by day to day without everything reminding me of her. At first I thought I could be strong and positive but now that discussions have started I am neither of those things.

It's the lowest I've felt in my whole life. The only thing I can think of is purging everything that I can to eliminate the memories. Also I am almost 40 and it feels so bad to be starting over now. I feel like I have nothing to give. Just a fucking loser single parent divorcee. Scared about my financial prospects now too.

Anyone have experience dealing with this, any tips? I feel like I'm drowning.

I'm sure they have access to therapy so this trauma will be swiftly dealt with.

I mentioned in another thread that Morrigan was a childhood crush of mine; the fact that she was Scottish (and her hair is close to my favourite colour of Cyan) probably helped. As I've also mentioned before, her being a canon bisexual helps a lot in me liking her and I like that she's got a good story arc about responsibility and her accepting her role as the Queen of Makai/Hell. That being said, I don't like some of the flanderization she's suffered over the years that focuses on her solely being about sex; or the Udon or Teppen versions of her that just make her an outright villain; both I feel lose a lot of her fun and dorky nature, Morrigan isn't a hero, she's an anti-hero, but to me she's also the type of person gloating she's taking out newbs left or right in SF6's competitive mode and loves to party.

Hope this doesn’t come across silly or overthinking stuff. I’m a lifelong fighting game fan, ever since I first played Soul Edge/Blade as a kid. But I’ve also been a big advocate of pushing against objectification in fighting games. I want more women over 30, tall women, fat women, buff women like Marsia in SF6 and more clothing options that aren't overly revealing for every woman, I just don’t want attractive to be a requirement for every woman.

But at the same time, I feel like a massive hypocrite pushing that because I love many women fighters that are the source of that objectification. I adore characters like Anna Williams, Morrigan from DS was a childhood crush, SF6’s Manon (also I crush on) and much to my own shame and embarrassment, I love Makoto from BlazBlue despite in no way being able to justify her costume.

I feel like I’m betraying others despite knowing other women like characters like them or it’ll will (and has) weaponized against me when I’ve spoken up about objectification in fighting games. And this gets into my biggest internal issue, as much as I want better representation in fighting games for women and less objectification… I also want a wlw DOA-Like fighting game made by wlw for wlw like DOA if it was made by women for the enjoyment of women (and had more story, a dating sim and have more character development and cute/funny moments).

Like you can argue fighting games already exist like DOA; but at least from my perspective, those games are pretty clearly pushing for the enjoyment for men (one of the reasons why I had to stop playing DOA was because it go too much) first and foremost and while wlw can enjoy that, it's not the same as stuff made for wlw by wlw. I feel you can tell that something like that is made by women for women because... I don't know how to describe it that isn't just vibes; there's a lack of attitudes you see and feel in art and stories drawn & written by men or for men (and in my experience, often just has a more fun, loving and companionate feeling to it)... I feel like I'm doing a terrible job explaining this.

I'm going through the same thing currently.

10 year relationship came to a screeching halt after I proposed to her last December. She said yes, then changed her mind and gave me the ring back 9 days later with a laundry list of grievances she had but never mentioned.

I'm still in the house we were renting until November, surrounded by her shit. She's getting stuff out slowly, but obviously it hurts to see her things still here.

She cheated on me a year and a half into this relationship with a mutual coworker, so this is probably how it was always gong to end. It completely changed me as a person.
