Mods probably shouldn't be in the business of verifying sellers. If someone even needs vetting like that, it's a big red flag. As we've seen, it does nothing to ensure transaction safety, and it potentially leads to fewer concerns being raised publicly, and more payments being sent.

Maybe staff members shouldn't be "verifying" sellers unless they have a fool proof way of doing so. Doing it in an half assed way and then sending thoughts and prayers to those who placed their trust in you is kind of shitty.

I have now received three PMs from confirmed buyers of the Switch2 preorder. The seller did indicate that they may have two preorders, but three is definitely greater than two, so as of now this does appear to be a scam.

If you are seeing this message and you are currently negotiating with MonkeyLuffy, or worse have paid them, I would recommend that you either stop all negotiations or attempt to retrieve the money you have paid.

At least until further information can be found, or MonkeyLuffy can show evidence to prove their innocence.

Edit: MonkeyLuffy is now claiming that they had additional pre-orders available. I have requested, and so has moderation, that they provide evidence showing that each of the consoles they sold is actually headed to the buyers. They have not yet provided this information. If and when it is provided, then I will edit this post to reflect that fact.

From what B Dubs told me, Monkeyluffy showed screenshots of amazon UK orders, but later he told us he had US orders, he even told one of us they were amazon US orders, which cannot be.

All I know that I sent another $400 after mods "verfied" him thinking we were in the clear. I think after the last event he then sold one more switch... to me.

Given the slack "verifying" process, the lesson here for the rank and file retarderans should be that maybe, just maybe, they should be questioning every time the mods ban someone for "alt account" reasons.
