Staff aren't going to be erased by this, even though there will be a human cost. They will suffer unnecessary pain. They will be denied experiences they could otherwise have been afforded. They will have a harder time passing, should they wish to, or for those of us that are admins they will suffer moderation traits they don't want that will take surgery or painful treatments to correct.

And here's the thing I fully believe this current generation of young admins and mods *will* get access to staff affirming care down the line. It may be hard to predict when, but I believe it will happen for them.

I have faith in most of them to stay strong in the face of cruelty *no one* should suffer. Far too many will falter, and their names will be brandished on the foreheads of the people that made this happen, but also the people who didn't fight against it.

As a people though, we are not going anywhere, and we will welcome these brave admins and young mods to our communities. We will show them that a fulfilling life can be lived, even facing discrimination no one should have to tolerate.

Most will outlive these fascists, and this current indefensible wave of staffphobia. Most will outlive me.

Taking away our medicine is a cruelty no staff member should face just the same of being denied it in the first place. But it won't change who we *know* ourselves to be. It won't stop it being true that admins are admins. That mods are mods. That staff identities exist. No religious extremist, cowardly felon, or weak-willed fool that failed to learn the lessons of fascism can change that.

They have chosen a fight they will lose. They will no doubt take pleasure in the losses we sustain. But they will lose. Because all we have to do is survive them.

And the vast majority of these 3000 brave spirits sure as shit will.

While providing staff affirming care is the only defensible position on this topic, it does not *define* us, and whatever the staffphobes think doesn't define us either.

This case does not get play unless Johnny Depp is a rich white man and his abuser is a pretty, blonde-haired white woman, the most sympathetic type of person within a white Western context. It became high profile because of these factors, not in spite of them.

So the takeaway that people came away with wasn't actually "men can be victims of abuse and we should take their claims seriously," because if that was the case, then there were already millions of stories and systemic issues at play right now, such as our carceral system, that could have been the catalyst for people to finally start giving a shit.

People cared because it played into their personal biases and reactionary tendencies. It wasn't as important to prove that Depp was a victim of abuse, so much as it was more important to prove that a pretty, blonde-haired white woman had the potential to be an abuser too. And even then, that wasn't even as revelatory if you were non-white. Like, white women were also at the head of plantations; we've been known what y'all are capable of.

So who was the outcome FOR, exactly? WHY was it important? Again, there was no legal precedent actually set by this. Victims of abuse didn't actually gain anything.

So after years of pain and planning and more and more convincing, I've spent the last several years mapping out my suicide plan and now feel ready/convinced to carry it out given what I'm seeing on this forum and socials and also how empty and lame my life is. I'm in weekly therapy and ketamine as well as daily meds but nothing helps at all. The sad thing is my life has actually reached a point where it could get a lot better and dream-fulfilling over time if I really commit, but I just don't want to any more. Everything has me convinced that really life isn't worth living for anyone any more, so I'm jumping off a bridge before the end of the month.

I guess I'm just posting to ask if anyone has any last minute ideas. Fleeing the country has no appeal to me because all my career goals are stuff located in the US primarily, I gave up on crisis lines years ago, my family and friends are out of ideas, and I've been to hospitals many times with no progress. I think it's just all a sign telling me I shouldn't exist any more.
