These sorts of craftsman tasks will inevitably be taken by AI, just as they have been for years with generative tools.

It’s odd. AI is used as a broad term by supporters and detractors for existing tools and concepts. Last year I bought a microwave. This year, nearly the exact same model now has an AI button. The literature shows it’s the same as the auto button on mine. Although there’s a footnote about how you can generate self portraits in the style of Titan AE.
