Stayed at a hotel recently and the mattress was incredibly comfortable. A rarity here. Now I’m trying to land on the least crazy way to discover the brand. Take a day trip to the hotel and ask the front desk. Book a single night, remove the covers, and check the tags. Send an email or call and try to explain in broken Japanese. Take a part time job as cleaning staff or otherwise infiltrate their ranks.

It's nearly july now, 5 months left. Some chats this week but none sane enough to date. IRL things are improving though, more women going out and open to talk to in this weather. The political climate and NATO summit police presence helps too, fewer sand people harrassing women on the streets.

alien colonists plan on coming back to earth to resettle it, and there's a syndicate on earth now prepping it for colonization, and then there's more shit about a black oil DNA thing that can turn things into aliens and/or attempts to make human-alien hybrids

I guess it's never meant to be spelled out in simple terms, throughout the show you just get a small hint here or there, but this just sounds so incredibly quaint, boring, and obvious

I get that these themes are horrifying if they were true, but it doesn't feel like it's the kind of thing that should be "the answer" to all the buildup

by comparison, an example I would give of something that is truly original and weird even when summarized is twin peaks

And in this case my perfect weekend is her perfect weekend, is it something inspiring like coaching a kids soccer team, building a treehouse or being with family or whatever? Got two new matches. One has the occupation "X at government". Which I'm guessing is the ministery of interior and I recognize her from somewhere. The other is a Chinese corporate bank chick. I updated the profile to lean into the villain theme more over the weekend and it's attracting the legal/government/corpo types. 

I've changed my chatting game and it's working quite well. I Ask what they're excited about once the convo gets going. It moves the chat away from talking about work, previous dates and other stuff that just kills the vibe. It also gives a way better sense of their private personality. I also keep it more serious. Funny curveball 'on brand' opener, a few jokes sprinkled in between but not overdoing it or making it too complicated. More aloof, less intense and also not putting a censor on things in terms of the gifs I deploy, American Psycho walks into their chat and The Wolf of Wall Street.

I gotta say, this whole journey you’ve been on makes me wonder if it’s grim out there or user error.

Connected to earlier mattress talk. I made the mistake of reading the mattress reddit forum. Some of those guys are nutso. They actively talk about losing their minds after spending months and years finding the right mattress made with highly specific coils and foams. Some guy will chime in with “I bought a serta at a mattress store and sleep fine”. Everybody jumps in with how bad the foam quality is. “What about tempur?” Oh apparently the foam starts sagging after a few years. Then there’s a whole crowd way into latex mattress from Malaysia. To say nothing about how many are hung up on the idea of mattress brands getting worse over the years. You can drive yourself crazy with choice paralysis.

dude you gotta get the SoftSleep PleasantRest XL, but only ones with a model number starting with PL-5, the earlier OL-5s had a defect in the lower springs, but yeah this model uses double stitching at the corners which will increase the bed's overall lifetime by a good 10%

It's grim out there but it's also a matter of finding the right matches and I'm fishing in the right pond now. The ghosting is over, the 24/7 tiresome gf/bf chat experiences are over. 

Most of the women I now match with are on the same level. They just had other priorities much like myself. I don't have to drag them along like the Latina.

My friends are conflicted. They were hoping the dating would soften me up, that women would fall for the animal photos, story telling and loyalty to my parents. Instead of putting me on a path of drifting a black Nissan GTR through a homeless camp. But they're happy I have a clear direction now and that I'm very upbeat about the future dystopia I'm building.

I've deployed a new tactic on the profile, resentment. One line just lists a bunch of 30+ and 40+ women like Jenn Connelly, Vanessa Kirby with the closing message that women age like fine wine. Also deleted some pictures on the basis of less is more. In general I get the function of the app now, it's just to get their number. Halfway through the conversation you take them to whatsapp with some comment that you think the app is gay or whatever. They want to continue their brainfart, so they quickly drop their number if they want to date. With that they know you are legit, they see your Whatsapp picture (oh, he really looks like that) and it's off to the races. But alas as easy as this one is, it's all about personality not looks but she won't date short kings despite being 5"4 herself. Luckily for her Nintex likes to talk down on people. And I’ve noticed some of the younger regulars in the gym starting to copy them as well. When I was starting out, I’d look to the older guys and think they must have experience. They know what they’re doing. The idea that I might be that guy is, for one, making me feel old beyond my age. Secondly, makes me think the older guys from my youth were also winging it and maybe nobody actually knows what’s going on.

Well it was a fun date. Start wasn't that great but it got better as it progressed. When I left she immediately asked when she could see me again.

I'm conflicted though, I'm open to doing another date. Last guy left her after 3 months before he found something better. He was honest about it at least but the poor girl still felt hurt.
Some caveats, she works at the ICC as an intern, as an African girl traditional in the sense that the man provides and all that, culturally she's trying to learn the ropes. Also for someone who traveled from another continent she thinks everything is 'too far'. Plus, the place where she lives, the land lady doesn't like other people around.

2nd date is either going to the movies or taking her to my place to watch a movie.

Also for someone who traveled from another continent she thinks everything is 'too far'.

Because she's talking in a local sense, not a global or universal sense.

If she comes from a more traditional African life it's not like they could ride the train or drive to go anywhere, everything had to be really local. So, for her, something being 15-30 minutes away by train is far. You're used to urban sprawl where that's normal.

I've always traveled around, even locally, but in high school I knew people who thought a nearby mall or Best Buy was "far away" because they almost never left the immediate area and these were in a different suburb of the city. Some of these people I still know and they now think nothing of jumping to the other side of the city for something they want to go to that really does take an hour to get to and back, but when they were kids and it was out of their hands, distances seemed greater.

Had the 2nd date with 24F and that's the end of it. We watched a movie but she started to act like a diva from the get go so as soon as the movie ended I gave her back her shoes and drove her back. In the car ride back she realized and admitted she fucked up. Work out the issues, blah blah blah. Good talk love but no time for stupid games. 

Date set with 35F for tuesday, I proposed a dinner date but she prefers a forest walk, another thing we have in common apart from looking like Harkonnen, walking a lot.
Hopefully the M&A is going to work out and we'll start building our dystopia
