I wasn’t really sweating these games prior to the ban. I don’t even play on PC. 

The only thing “absolutist” about my position is that selling these games on mainstream storefronts is untenable and some compromise (forced or otherwise) is inevitable.

I don’t think these games need to be outlawed, and I don’t think payment processors should be the ones dictating the criteria. 

On the other hand, I don’t think these games are culturally meritorious, I don’t have much sympathy for the storefronts who let the window for realistic accommodations woosh by, I have even less sympathy for the “artists” who made this crap, I certainly don’t think this content is tied to the fate of LGBT rights, and I am 0% concerned that they are coming for The Last of Us 2 next (a very gay, very trans game).

It’s like a shirtless dude at the gas station for me. Am I gonna tattle? No. But will I gasp and cry when someone tells him to leave? Also no. Nor will I fear the gas station gestapo after the fact.

I dunno about pornhub but I know for a fact that other stores that sell porn games are in material worse positions after payment processors intervene.   They mostly released quality stuff (as games that people care about that that just happened to have smut) or planned to expand beyond their borders (DLs Site implosion that ended with people using VPN for stuff that they are allowed to buy but the store and payment processor say “nope”). Some of this storefronts published not smut stuff in other stores, but were affected by this.

While ERA is focusing too much in link this case with the adult industry, i feel is kind of tricky to related it with video games outside voice actors, as many of these games are made from nerds to nerds, there is not usually a Ron Jeremy creeping out (that is for the AAA like ubisoft  ). Don’t forget that most of the stuff deleted is asset flips, low end VN made in ren’pai or RPG maker games.

And while you can argue about them being delisted just being a form quality control, I would argue that Itch mishandling of it made this blowup otherwise because the perceived overreach.

So yeah, this stuff can make things material worse for stores, publishers and creators. I dunno whatever pornhub felt it, but I’m not talking about it.
