Before you ever start wondering if you should carry water for a corporation, just take a second to remember they've already issued internal reports reviewed by their CEOs about how they are directly aware of the harms, that their product/system is responsible for it, and that there are a variety of actions and protections they could easily put in place to minimize, prevent, and stop it from occurring.

And then someone asks the two-fold question: "How much would that cost for us to do, and what would be the impact on our revenues?"

Every single time, in every single company, the implicit tradeoff of having to make less money in exchange for doing social good puts an immediate stop to any and all preventative safety efforts. Nowadays, companies just don't bother even researching it or they try to kill the reports from ever coming out because it provides legal evidence of their wrongdoing. As long they just pretend not to know anything and never produce any hard evidence, good luck "proving" they knowingly did wrong by the standards of a court of law and a billion dollar legal defense team.

It's so convenient and easy to say just blame parents, but it doesn't really work on practice.
For somethings we need real regulation enforced by the government to solve the problem. Not every kid has attentive parents (or even parents at all!) and those kids need protection as well.

I'm bumping this because Roblox is a disaster. There was a creator, Shlep, who took it upon himself to catch 6 pedos on the platform because Roblox failed to act when contacted through "proper channels". He got 'em arrested and sent all the data on these guys to Roblox. Roblox, being super concerned about their rep and profit, and not the pedos, banned Shlep instead.

Sorry but Roblox isn't a public space. It's a private platform.

They have to take responsibility for their userbase and if it's largely children then it's on Roblox to make sure its safe for children. If they don't want to or are unable to make it safe for children then I think they should have to require proof of being over 18 to use the service.

I don't think these big tech companies should get to play slopey shoulders with responsibility for interactions happening on their platform.

This. Roblox seems to be an extreme case of what we're seeing with these private platforms whether gaming or social media, a lack of care for safety and moderation in favour of exploitation and profit.

I don't think something like Roblox is inherently bad, in many ways it's a larger scaled version of Neopets or Club Penguin with more options and creation options; IF properly moderated, regulated and not made for profit/pushes exploitative monetary practices (which was also a problem with said games like Neopets and Club Penguin). As I've mentioned in the past, I wouldn't be alive today if I hadn't found like minded people online and a community of people who helped me through my depression and allowed me to realize I was trans; I think their SHOULD be spaces for kids and teens to be able to hangout online, have fun, be able to discuss and in the case of Roblox, create in a safe environment. The problem is that late stage capitalism treats this as bad so it's not happening... And it doesn't help:

This game is about as much tech demo as Rocket League and ARMS. Or any fighting game, really.

Do people simply not comprehend how deep you can get with the gameplay here? This is very much a real, full fledged game in terms of gameplay.

You can argue about content all day, but you don't have to practice playing tech demos for dozens of hours before becoming competent at them like you will with this game.

I don't understand the obsession with calling this game a tech demo. Is it because the art style isn't Nintendo enough?

Last night, I wanted to eat something large and filling before a showing of Weapons. Oh, how confounded I was thinking of where to go. Should I go to the local Mexican joint that I always frequent? Or maybe I should whip something up real quick in the kitchen? And that's when it hit me: when was the last time I had Arby's?

So, there I was in the drive-thru. Aside from these two cars in the parking lot (presumably belonging to employees), I was the only soul there craving some Arby's. Considering that it was 6 PM at the time, I found it to be a bit worrying. Nevertheless, I pushed on and placed my order. I ordered a Chicken Bacon Swiss meal with curly fries and a diet coke, a 5-piece of jalapeño bites, and a Greek Gyro. Please excuse my greed, okay; I only eat one meal a day after all.

Okay, now it's time to dig in. I unwrapped my Chicken Bacon Swiss and took a big hearty bite out of it. Holy shit, dude. The chicken filet tasted *just* right—none of that rubbery nonsense here. Bacon was crispy, swiss cheese was banging, and the honey mustard added a delightful sweetness to the whole ordeal. My only negative was that the sauce made all the contents on the sandwich behave like it was a damn slip 'n' slide. 9/10.

Then I had the curly fries. Man...oh, man. Fresh, crunchy. It's pretty hard to fuck up curly fries, but you'd be surprised with how many flimsy fails I've had before. Guys, this is the gold standard for any curly fry enthusiast: 10/10. Pair it with the Bronco Berry sauce and it shoots up to an 11/10. This shit was immaculate.

On to the jalapeño bites. I damn near burned my tongue with how hot the cheese was. They weren't as spicy as I'd personally like. Still, they were better than your average popper. 8/10.

The Greek Gyro was all that was left. I'm gonna be honest: a Greek Gyro from a fast food establishment sounded like a recipe for disaster. This could've been my last meal ever, y'all. But I was blown away. The pita was nice and fluffy, gyro meat was seasoned well and tasty. This might just be the best thing you can get from a fast food joint. 10/10.

It's time to admit that the hate for Arby's is overblown. How is it that this place is running laps around all other chains while getting 5x the hate? It's a cruel world out here. Call me a shill, an anomaly, or whatever...I'm a believer now. The food is just THAT damn good. Not mid, not trash—legimately good.

I can't be the the only Arby's truther out here.
