I think you guys are going a smidge too hard on the trans stuff personally but, you know... that's just my opinion, and i'm not going to jump in the DM's urging someone get banned. 

That said, as a literal decades long lurker, I've always wondered that about old GAF and Era when I look at 6 month old threads and like... half the posters are permanently gone. Do you... want a community or don't you?

I used to do on call security for a very long time, and every so often I would go to places that had some micromanaging dickhead who would fire people over nothing. I would have to drop what I was doing, often helping some other site that had an abscence due to illness or something rare and legit, and go be this guy's un-firable temp staff. This would usually go on for like 6 months before things fell apart entirely and we lost the contract. Every time. Sites where the client chilled out and actually had their own job to do other than look over our shoulder and left us to our own devices ran smoothly for the most part, with great employees.

Moral of the story, you can't fire your way to the perfect staff. Someone needs to tell the mods there that you can't ban your way to the perfect community, at some point ya'll have to commune.

Then again there's always new faces popping up, so what do I know?

One of the things I've always wondered about is whether the member number is actually rising or not. They got a total member number on the front page but I'm pretty sure that includes anyone banned

Seriously though, I wonder how the site owners would react if they saw how the moderation staff for a forum that is, essentially, a media enthusiast site that has great advertising potential banning a ton of people who objectively have disposable income in favor of catering to people who regularly have to beg for money to pay bills.

It wouldn't ever be how i'd run anything since the internet is supposed to be more than a place to sell ads, but I assume the people who paid 4 million for the site want some return.

The process is perfect, the problem is that what you're asking for puts staff members at risk. Some things are simply too sensitive to be discussed out in public rather than handled by the expert staff and their internal processes away from where things won't be misrepresented by bad faith actors.

I feel they turn blind eye of most alt accounts unless they personally dislike the user making them, they have also changed a lot of user names or users that were perma banned are suddenly unbanned (commediu and RustyNails). I also heard rumors of cliques recruiting users from their discords.

I would guess that appealing a ban gets you upgraded to a perm unless your message contains the words "I apologize" and a complete and total retreat, a simpering "now I've done further research and I truly see what a wicked man Burr is, and I no longer stand by any statements that I ever even tolerated his presence"

I sent them an email after being banned telling them to delete all relevant info about me pursuant to law 3456 or some shit, and they didn't even bother responding, even though by all accounts they're supposed to comply within 30 days. I'm too lazy to continue the pursuit even though I got lawyer friends.
